I hope everyone had a wonderful day of Thanksgiving with your family and friends and plenty of food, fun and frivolity and of course love! There is always room for love! I feel blessed to have loved ones to spend time with. I wish you all good things in life, my friends.
We spend Thanksgiving with family at my sister’s house. This year my kids and grandkids won’t be there for dinner but my daughter and family may stop over later for dessert. I will miss my son and family but it is only fair to share them with other family members. I will see them all on Christmas Eve at my house.

These photos above were of last year’s dinner and pies. This year I made only one pie. If I make them, I will be sure to eat them! Yikes! I can’t afford to eat any more pie. I recently made an apple pie for a friend who came to dinner. I am still eating it! I don’t dare go near a scale!
These pies were made recently below. I am still eating the apple pie! Pumpkin pie is for dinner at my sister’s house. They will be gone soon with the help of others.

Enjoy your day and stay safe and well. God bless you with all good things in life. Eat slowly and enjoy each morsel. Take tums or alka selter later! Sigh!
I made the little ones these stuffed Stitches as a surprise. I hope they like them! I love crocheting so much and make all kinds of gifts for family.
I hope everyone had a wonderful time with family and friends and had plenty to eat. We had a wonderful time with family and stuffed ourselves until we couldn’t move. I am still full today. We will probably finishing up the leftovers tomorrow.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. I am grateful for all the sales I have recently received and for any reviews you may have posted. Please keep those reviews coming. This is one way to help spread word about an author’s work.

READING GIVES YOU WINGS TO FLY! SOAR WITH JEMSBOOKS ALL YEAR THROUGH! HAPPY READING!
I am thrilled to announce that my newest book, Wishes: A Short Story Collection, won a Silver Medal from Mom’s Choice Awards! I am over the moon about this prestigious award and am honored and humbled by MCA for choosing my book! Thank you, #MomsChoiceAwards!
This is an eclectic short story collection of six stories.
Sometimes the things we wish for in life are not always what they seem. We have good times and bad but try to make the best of it all. There are occasions when we make wishes without thinking.
Like the saying goes, ‘Be careful what you wish for.’ While other times, things work out for the better, much to our surprise.
This collection will make you think about the next time you make a wish.
Do you make wishes? I do, and one wish that I made came true! A Silver Medal from Mom’s Choice Awards was what I wished for! I am so happy and honored!
If you haven’t read this book, please check it out soon. I think you will enjoy the short stories and be careful what you wish for from now on. Of course, some of the wishes in this collection are positive and will delight and surprise you. I would love to hear which stories you enjoyed the most. My favorite one was One More Chance. When I wrote it, I felt a deep seated sadness then a light-heartedness that lifted me up. I hope it effects you profoundly too.
Wishes are so important to all of us. We make wishes all through our life for good things to come our way and when they don’t we wish for something better to make up for the disappointments. Life isn’t easy for many and I pray and wish that you all receive good blessings in your lives.
This collection is for 18+ because there are some things that children would not understand. It is anthology of mystery and religious short stories. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I enjoyed writing them. I plan to do another short story collection in the near future.
Novels for 18+ books are available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble and also by clicking on covers to the right of this post.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Please come back again to JemsBooks where there is always something brewing!

READING GIVES YOU WINGS TO FLY! SOAR WITH JEMSBOOKS ALL YEAR THROUGH! HAPPY READING!
I can’t believe how fast the holidays are approaching! This is what happens every year once we return from our Aruba vacation – the holidays creep up on us. I shopped online for all the things I needed and now I have to wrap.
We won’t be decorating until after Thanksgiving even though many have already done this. I noticed one of the restaurants in Aruba was already decorated for Christmas before Halloween! That is a little early, don’t you think? Stores do the same thing. They have Halloween stuff out and Christmas things too at the same time!
Well, like I always say, books make perfect gifts for the holidays, do you agree? I plan to gift many of my books to family. They expect it! Haha! I just wish they would do some reviews for me! Sigh!
Here are some children’s books that would delight your children this holiday season. They will make your children happy and they will learn valuable life lessons at the same time.
These books are mostly all in rhyme with colorful illustrations created by my husband, John. There are baby animals and fun things about each one for your children to learn. PS-Grade 3 and up will enjoy these stories. There are short stories in chapter books for ages 5-8 about different animals, places and things that will intrigue your children and make them want to read them again and again.
Reading is important not only to keep your children’s reading levels up all year long but also it can increase their vocabulary, spark their creativity, enhance their health and wellbeing, and encourage them to become lovers of books. Let’s bring up a generation of readers and thinkers who will become successful and confident adults one day.

We had a wonderful vacation in Aruba, but home always looks so good! That is where my heart is!
My son took care of our fish and all are doing well. My daughter-in-law cared for my plants and they are looking very happy. Thank you both, Chris and Michelle! Love you bunches!
Here are some photos of my happy plants and of course our healthy and fatter fish.
Our fish were a little shy and probably upset with us for abandoning them for three weeks but they don’t look like they suffered too much. I can’t believe how big Puffer got. He is quite round. I think they are happy we are back but that could be just my imagination. Haha!
The birds were slow in returning after John filled their feeders. He was getting worried that they were not coming back. In two days they were back and at the feeders in a frenzy. They always find their way back when they know there is food. Even a squirrel came up to our slider and peeked in to see if we were home. I think he was hopping to get something too. They usually feed off of the fallen seeds that land below the feeders on the ground.
Now all we have to do is get used to the cold temperatures after being in 80+ degrees for three weeks. We are tanned and healthy for now. Tans fade eventually but we plan to stay well throughout the winter, fingers crossed. We absorbed plenty of vitamin D to keep us that way.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Please come back again and remember to review books for authors out there to help spread word about their work. I welcome and appreciate your efforts as always.

Watch for news about my progress of my latest WIP. It will take a few months of more to complete this book which is part of the award-winning fantasy series, Gateskin Chronicles. There will be one more book in this six-book series.
It was fun to create all these characters and strange creatures with even odder names. I supply a complete of the myriad characters and their relationship to the storyline. I needed it myself to write each book. The characters take over the story and I am just along or the ride. New characters keep coming forward, much to my chagrin. I can’t keep up with them! Sigh! Get into the Adventures today!
This series is also available in paperback and audiobook. This series is recommended by #MomsChoiceAwards.
MOM’S CHOICE AWARDS – GOLD MEDAL BOOK EXCELLENCE AWARD – FINALIST READERS’ FAVORITE BOOK AWARDS – 5-STAR REVIEW
This is Book 1 of a fantasy series that will have six books in all. In this book learn about the three children of King Gateskin and his wife, Queen Solinara. The children have had powers since they were quite young..
Serena was three years old when she learned of her power to move objects with her mind. Her brother, Simon, can fly and their sister, Catalina, can become invisible or blend into her surroundings. They live with their parents in Sovorotskina, the Land of Light.
With these powers comes responsibility.
The children must try to use their powers for the common good and responsibly to help others. The three children befriend a Sprite named Spindle who accompanies them on their adventure. Along the way they meet up with their aunt and uncle, their mother’s brother and his wife, Wizard Hotenfaran and Fairy Procelina.
The group must travel into the evil land of Parotovina, Land of Darkness, to save King Gateskin, who was kidnapped, and also rescue some of the descendants of their friends and fellow Sovorotskinans who were captured and taken by the Evil Ones. These descendants have been waiting a long time to be free to return to the villages of their ancestors.
The children have many trials and adventures along the way. Will they be able to rescue their father and fellow Sovorotskinans without endangering their own lives?
Will the evil King Kaposkaran and his Queen Beregina stop Serena and her siblings from being successful or will they turn Serena and her siblings to their dark ways?
If you haven’t read this book, please check it out soon and LET THE ADVENTURES BEGIN! You will fall in love with the myriad characters and be enthralled with the magic, surprises, and fantasy that will delight you in each book.
This series is an epic fantasy for YA and adults too. You will find magic, wizards, fairies, Sprites, unusual creatures that roam the land and threaten to harm all those who venture too close. It is the constant struggle of good again evil where the strongest will prevail. Are you ready to take your first step into King Gateskin’s world? Once you enter you will be unable to leave for you will be hooked! Enter carefully and keep your eyes open for there could be a creature behind you right now!

This vacation has left me tanned and rested and ready to get back to writing once we return home. It has been a wonderful trip except for a recent tumble for both my husband and I coming out of the water. The weather has been warm, windy and the surf rough causing us to fall as we had a recent swim. We will be sore and bruised I’m sure by the next day but none the worse for wear, we hope.
Of course I am going to share more photos of our trip along with some food and places we dined. I will have to go on a diet but believe it or not with all the eating we have done, I think we may have lost some weight or at least tightened up from the exercise in the water and a little walking. Sigh!
Photos of Chalet Suisse restaurant
Chalet Suisse is a lovely restaurant on the island that I would highly recommend. The prices are comparable to many other places here. All restaurants have gone up in price as expected. This one has an early bird for $38.00 from salad or soup to dessert. Notice my steak in the above photos. I had to take almost half of it back with me for lunch. It was delicious. I highly recommend this one. We went twice this trip.
The above photos are of another favorite restaurant, Waki Wahoo, noted for delicious fish and other dishes. I love the barracuda or red snapper. Check out my dish. I ate all my fish but couldn’t finish the rest. It was outstanding as usual! We saw our friend, Rudy, who looks a lot like Cheech Maran of Cheech and Chong. I take a photo with him every year. Such a nice guy and always smiling and cheerful.
This is a small place and only holds 50 people. They do not take reservations and only have two seatings after they open at 5:30 pm. We were lucky to get in and seated at the last table. Sigh! I highly recommend going early because it gets quite noisy after being crowded but well worth the wait and meal.

We are now home safely after a mishap on our flight. We arrived home much later than we planned. Things happen that are out of our control. At least we got home in one piece. Home is the best place to be. I loved our trip but it felt so good to be home. Sigh!
Well, now we are back to reality. After two days of laundry, I will be getting back to my WIP soon. We still feel a little tired but will perk up soon, I hope. We are not as young as we used to be. Haha!
Thank you for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Come back soon, you hear? There is always something brewing at JemsBooks.

We will be leaving this island paradise soon. It has been a wonderful trip seeing friends, eating all the fish I could possibly fit into my time here, soaking up the sun, swimming in the warm Caribbean and enjoying the lovely people on this island, my second home.
Many time I say that I will go somewhere else next year but I find myself being drawn back to Aruba again and again. It has been 27 years now that we have been returning. We know so many people here and restaurants, places to shop and things to see. It’s feels comfortable returning to something familiar. There is always something new though – shops to pick up another souvenir; restaurants to dine in, and people to meet. I have also found time to read at least six books while I have been here. Watch for my Monthly Reads and Reviews for November.
Here are more photos of places we have dined and selfies too.

I love to read different genres just as I love to create stories in eclectic genres for all ages. What is your favorite genre?
There are so many books that I have read in one year as you can see on my Monthly Reads and Reviews. I don’t have just one favorite. I enjoy mysteries, suspense, historical fiction, and crime mysteries.
JemsBooks has all these genres and more. I find it fascinating to create a new story in a different genre. There are only a few genres I will not write – zombies, horror and sexual explicit material. All my books are free of anything like that. If you are looking for good clean reading, then you will love my books.
Novels for 18+ books are available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble and also by clicking on covers to the right of this post.
Jemsbooks have won 50 Book Awards – 21 Pinnacle Book Awards, 5 Reader’s Favorite Book Awards (Silver, Bronze and 2 Honorable Mentions and Finalist Medal), 17 Mom’s Choice Awards, 1 Authorsdb Silver Medal for Cover Contest, 2 Book Excellence Award Finalist, 2 Top Shelf Awards (First Place and Runnersup), 2 Maincrest Media Award, 1 Finalist in Red City Review Book Awards, 2 Finalists in Authorsdb First Lines Contest, and many 5-Star Reviews from Readers’ Favorite Book Awards.
I will soon be delving into my present WIP, Gateskin Chronicles Book 5. THE ADVENTURES CONTINUE in the Noella Province with Wizard King Gateskin as he works his magic to keep his land and the surroundings villages safe from the evil that threatens them not only from within but also from another land. Grab your copies of books 1-4, Mom’s Choice Awards winners of four Gold Medals, a Maincrest Media Book Award, and a Book Finalist Award.

This is a post I published in a past that I wanted to share today on Veteran’s Day. I am still on vacation and did not want to forget to share this once again and show my gratitude for all those who sacrificed to provide freedom for us at home.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL VETERANS OUT THERE WHO SERVED THEIR COUNTRY AND GAVE THEIR LIVES OR LIMBS TO KEEP US SAFE! I AM ETERNALLY GRATEFUL FOR YOUR SERVICE! GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
Wikipedia – Thank you Veterans
Thank you, Veterans, for all that you have done for your country.
For keeping us safe on our soil!
For protecting us and preserving our freedom!
We are indebted to you for serving your country!
May God bless you and your families for your sacrifices!
Wikipedia – Veteran’s Day
My dad served his country during WWII and received a Purple Heart.
WIKIPEDIA (Purple Heart)
He never wanted to talk about it back then but as he got older he shared a little of his experience of the day on Guadal Canal in 1942 when he was shot. He expressed regret that he had to shoot when being shot at and for all the men who died during that horrendous war. He was deeply saddened when he spoke of losing his ‘buddies’ as he called them, his fellow Marines. He was proud to be a Marine and was never sorry for proudly serving his country and would have done it again.
My father was small in stature, only 5’6” but he had a huge heart and was brave and talented in many ways. He was gregarious, warm, friendly, funny, and always had a beautiful smile on his handsome face. I am proud of my dad and all that he did for his country. I am thankful that I had such a wonderful father who was loving, caring and kind. Just saying this makes my eyes misty with regret that he is no longer with us. I miss him so much! Love you, Dad!
My Dad in uniform – served in WWII – my photo
Here’s a photo of my handsome father. Unfortunately it is not a clear one but it is the only one I have with him in uniform marching off to war. I loved him dearly and was proud of him and his service. I miss him and his crazy sense of humor. He died in 2001.
Found this photo since my original post – still showing a handsome guy! So proud of Dad, the Marine!
Thank you for stopping by to read this post. You are welcome to come back again any time. Take care. God bless our veterans!
