Jemsbooks Children’s books are available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Please consider giving books to all the children on your list for all occasions. There is nothing better than to see a child’s eyes light up when you give him/her a book – even more so when you read the book to them. You are giving them so much more than you could ever imagine, e.g., you spark their imagination, heighten their creativity, lift their spirits, increase their vocabulary, open up a whole new world to them, enhance their health and wellbeing and encourage them to love reading. The gift of a book is worth more than gold to our children, grandchildren. Keep reading and gifting books to children. Let’s bring up a generation of readers and thinkers. Thank you for your support!

Here is a little taste of this series. If your children have not read this series, please introduce your children to this delightful series where they will love these entertaining and endearing dragons and learn some important life lessons. Each book is written in rhyme with colorful illustrations created by my husband, John.

Delfina – Book 4: Purple & Pink Dragon: Delfina’s scales are many shades of purple and pink. A strawberry milk shake is her favorite drink. She can solve any problem with just a blink. She may be small but is stronger than you think.

Book 6 (Drystan the Dragon and Friends Series) Dragana Helps a Fairy

This is the final book in this magical, mystical series of dragons and their good deeds. In Book 6 a new dragon is introduced, Dragana. Each dragon is a different color and the dragons all have names that begin with the letter ‘D’.

Dragana is a dragon who likes to dream.

Nothing is impossible to her so it seems.

Her scales are colored in burgundy and cream.

Fairies, goblins, and ghosts are her favorite theme.

Dragana discovers a fairy in need one day while flying around.

Will this fairy be afraid of a big dragon?

What will Dragana do to help the fairy?

If your children love dragons, they will love Drystan and his friends in this fun and entertaining series. Happy reading this Christmas and all year through! Your children will want to read these books again and again.

A Special Christmas Story in An Angel Among Us!

If you are looking for a touching and emotional Christmas story, look no further than my short story collection, An Angel Among Us! This collection has 15 stories all in eclectic genres that have a twist at the endings. The last story in the collection is a very special story for Christmas that will touch your heartstrings. This celebrates the season for giving and thinking of others rather than yourself. I know you will love this story and all the other stories in this collection.

FIVE STAR REVIEW FROM READERS’ FAVORITE BOOK AWARDS

A collection of short stories that covers several genres including romance, grief/loss, mystery, suspense, sci-fi, fantasy and paranormal. This book is dedicated to a courageous friend who passed in 2017. The first story is specially created for her and is the inspiration for the title of this book.

This is an eclectic collection of stories that you will love and want to read over again. Each story is short enough to enjoy anytime that you don’t want to read a full-size novel, yet they are full and rich as one. I love to end each story with a surprise twist to keep the reader guessing and wanting more.

If you haven’t read this collection yet, maybe now is the time to treat yourself to an enjoyable compilation of stories that you can get lost in and forget your troubles.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year!

Do your children love crustaceans?

We have had several crustaceans in our saltwater tanks and freshwater tanks. I was so enamored by these creatures that I wrote two stories about my favorite ones – a hermit crab and a crayfish.

Here is Clarence Henry the Hermit Crab:

PINNACLE BOOK ACHIEVEMENT AWARD WINNER!

Clarence Henry is different from other hermit crabs. He came to his new home minus one claw and a leg. He needs to protect himself until he can grow new appendages. Will Clarence Henry be able to meet the challenges in his new water world? Clarence Henry was a real aquatic hermit crab who lives in a saltwater fish tank in our home. We watched him interact with the other creatures in the tank. He was resilient, intelligent, and a joy to have as a pet. We took some photos of him as he grew his claw and leg and changed shells. We shared these photos and facts about hermit crabs in the back of the book. I hope you will enjoy them. This book will make a wonderful resource for classrooms.

Clarence Henry was the second hermit crab that we had in our saltwater tank. We also had one that we named Conan since he destroyed all the detritus and food that was at the bottom of the tank. He was probably the best cleaner of the three that we had. The last one was called Sebas Jr. after my grandson who named him. Sebas was the smallest of the crabs and didn’t do as good a job of cleaning as the other two. He did not last long in the tank either. I guess he wasn’t as healthy and strong. Clarence Henry was my favorite hermit crab. My husband, John, created the cover for this book as well as the others.

Here is the Jerry the Crabby Crayfish:

PINNACLE BOOK ACHIEVEMENT AWARD!

Jerry is a crabby crayfish who all day long wishes he could be a fish. One day something happens in the fish tank that makes Jerry change his mind. Read about the valuable lesson Jerry learns.

This was the first crayfish we had in our freshwater tank. He was quite the character who entertained us daily with his antics. I mentioned what he did in the book. My grandchildren loved him and would do all they could to get him riled up by taping on his tank. When they did this, Jerry would raise his claws at them in warning and hide in his cave until they left him alone. Many times I had to tell them to stop bothering Jerry so the poor crustacean would get some rest. We all missed him after he passed. So sad. He was such a brilliant shade of blue as in the photo. He was beautiful!

We did have another crayfish that was much smaller and red in color. It did not last long and was not anything like Jerry. Aquarium stores no longer carry crayfish for sale. Sad to say. We have shut down our freshwater tank now and just have the 95 gallon saltwater tank. This tank is enough to maintain for my husband.

Here are some reviews from Amazon and a photo and Word Art for Clarence:

Here are some reviews from Amazon and a Word Art for Jerry:

Both of these books would make perfect gifts for your children this Christmas or anytime. They would also be welcome additions to school libraries as resource material about crustaceans.

If your kids love to learn about water creatures, these are the books for them to have this Christmas, birthday or other occasion. Your kids will also learn important life lessons from these creatures that will make you happy.

Jemsbooks Children’s books are available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Clarence Henry will teach children to work hard, do the best that you can do and be happy with who you are.

Jerry will teach your children that it is okay to be different, be the best you can be and be happy with who you are.

These books were a joy to write and hopefully they will be a joy to read to your children this Christmas. Watch your children’s eyes light up as they look at the colorful illustrations created by my husband and read the rhyming prose that I created for them.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Please come back again soon. You are always welcome! Don’t forget to review books for authors. We will love you for your efforts to help spread word about our work.

Blessings & Hugs! Stay Safe, Stay Well and God Bless!

Books Read and Reviewed in November 2025!

Here it is already the end of another month. Where does the time go? I have been busy as usual reading some wonderful books for the month of November of 2025. Here are the 7 books I read and reviewed for November. I might have read even more if I didn’t have a few WIP. But I always seemed to have a WIP! That fact never stops me! I hope you enjoy reading these reviews.

I love sharing my eclectic reads in this Jemsbooks Segment, Books Read in the Month. I hope you will get a chance to look over these books soon. Thank you for your kind support of my work and that of my fellow authors.

If you are an avid reader, as I am, please review the books you love on Amazon or wherever you purchased them for others to enjoy your reviews. Reviews are one way for readers to know about an exceptional book. We indie authors love to receive reviews and appreciate the efforts of readers to do them. Once again, I thank you for your kind support of me and my books and for supporting my fellow authors too.

When I wrote these reviews I rated them on Amazon, Goodreads and sometimes Barnes & Noble. I did not include the ratings here though. It is best to share my thoughts with you about how I felt about the book without the rating. Ratings can be deceiving at times.

We all feel differently about books. Sometimes we love them, sometimes we like them and still other times we may dislike a book. Some other books are so memorable they take your breath away! While still others are sweet, sensitive, and enjoyable reads that we soon will forget. But all these books I have reviewed were lovely reads as you can see from my reviews. I hope you enjoy my reviews and that they will help you to decide what will be your next read.

Christmas in Newfoundland is the third book in this series of holiday books that share Christmas traditions for the families in the author’s Winston Windflower series.

It is full of all the precious times that the family of Windflower and his friends and their families celebrate at this special time of year. The author shared the different customs that these characters continue to celebrate each Christmas such as cutting down a tree to decorate, baking special pies, cookies and other sweets, inviting friends to join in the celebration and even going from house to house in costumes called mummering.

This is a book that takes the reader back in time to their own holiday celebrations and the love of family and friends and also by sharing good times with those who are less fortunate. It is a heartfelt and warm feeling to read this book and the others in this series. I felt as if I was with the characters and celebrating too.

The author’s warmth and caring manner is deeply seated in his community and the characters in his books. It is most evident in the way he writes his stories with these beloved characters that are so real and unforgettable. I love his books and Winston Windflower’s character.

I highly recommend all Mike Martin’s books to those who enjoy reading books with heartwarming stories.

Last Seen is a thriller that keeps you guessing from the first chapter to the last. It is a story that had one shocking revelation after another as some surprising evidence is uncovered by the main protagonist, Halley James, who searches for the truth about her mother’s death and her sister’s disappearance. Halley’s life is falling apart beginning with her marriage, and the loss of her job. She puts everything on hold until she can solve the mystery of why her father lied to her about her mother and sister.

After reading the first chapter, I was not sure where this story was going but it slowly came full circle in a surprising way. A memorable story!

Hello Goodbye, the continuing saga of Kay Bratt’s Hart Ridge Series, is full of problems for the Gray sisters’ as the eldest sister, Taylor, tries to solve a crime that has left three children homeless and at the same time deal with the demons of her past that continue to plague her until resolution. There are many issues that keep coming up for the sisters and many surprises as Taylor is on the job solving the latest murder while trying to keep her family intact through it all.

There is always something happening in this series to keep the reader interested and wholly invested in the sisters’ welfare. Taylor deals with an unexpected announcement about her fiancé that she must come to terms with as well as Sam. I look forward to the next book in the series to find out what Taylor will have to tackle next.

A memorable series full of interesting characters that drive the stories forward.

The Bourne Vendetta is a non-stop thriller with plenty of violence and bloodshed for the main protagonist, Jason Bourne. Espionage is the main theme as Bourne must stop those from trying to undermine others, who are in high places, with evidence that is implanted in some files.

Some familiar characters, who are in previous books, return to cause havoc for Bourne as well as some romantic interest that brings more issues than he expected or even imagined.

This is not my usual choice of genre but I gave it a try. I purchased this book for my husband. It was a little too violent for me.

Secrets of Hawthorne Manor is a creepy but fun book for middle-graders that will keep them engaged and turning pages eagerly to discover what happens next.

This haunted house seems to have a life of its own, with its creaky steps, framed pictures of descendants with eyes that follow the kids around, ghosts that appear out of thin air, and many secrets that are buried within its walls.

These brave kids don’t give up as they search for the secrets that Hawthorne Manor keeps hidden. Will they be able to find them and escape unscathed from the ghostly watchers?

An entertaining read for kids! This adult enjoyed it too!

Mountain Laurel Christmas is a sweet and touching short story of a man who finds himself. Cole Knight aka Norbert Angus Anderson is a famous country western singing star who discovers that he is lonely and unhappy even though he could afford to buy anything he desired.

What he was missing was a family. He had been separated from his family since he was a teenager. He had turned to drink to hide his unhappiness and try to drown his feelings.

Would finding his family and get reunited with them help him find himself? A touching and heartfelt short story that I did not want to end.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DWBDSBNT/?bestFormat=true&k=the%20housewarming%20book&ref_=nb_sb_ss_w_scx-ent-bk-ww_k1_1_16_de&crid=3CDVI996HKTPC&sprefix=the%20hhousewarming

The Housewarming is a psychological mystery that kept me wondering who done it! The characters were varied and intriguing, each having their own problems and issues whichthey needed to conquer.

The four friends thought they really knew each other well but there are some surprises that surface to make the reader think that nothing they say or do is true about each other. There was definitely one of them keeping secrets.

The ending was a surprise and quite unexpected since there were many probable suspects to consider in the disappearance of the one girl. This was an interesting read and first novel for this author.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Please keep coming back for there is always something brewing at JemsBooks! Please keep those reviews coming for us authors! We will love you for your efforts to help spread word about our books!

Blessings & Hugs! Stay Safe, Stay Well and God Bless!

PINNACLE BOOK ACHIEVEMENT AWARD WINNER!
READERS’ FAVORITE BOOK AWARDS – BRONZE MEDAL!

This is Book 1 of a series of Abby & Holly books. These two girls were first introduced in Book 5 of the Davey & Derek Junior Detectives Series.
The girls are first cousins on their mothers’ side. They moved to the quiet town of Lindon, New Hampshire and live in a grand old Victorian which is haunted.
The cousins are excited about attending the 6th grade dance. When their friend, Justine, is bullied, Abby and Holly, along with the help of a ghost and Davey & Derek, work together to formalize a plan to put a stop to the bullying.

All my books for MG/PT carry life lessons that I hope kids will remember and carry with them for a lifetime, e.g., friendship is important, family matters, bullying is never accepted or tolerated, be respectful of elders, be kind to others in need, lend a helping hand to others and show kindness at all times.

Abby & Holly Series provides more fun and ghostly adventures with cousins, Abby & Holly, as they discover things in their old Victorian and go back to the past to solve mysteries. There are ghosts, a haunted house, time travel, mysteries, and magic. Life lessons will also be learned about friendship, family, respect, love and caring for one another, and bullying will never be accepted or tolerated! MG/PT/YA will be hooked and parents will feel good about the quality of books their children are reading! Adults are reading and enjoying them also!

Here are some reviews from Amazon using AllAuthor.com promos:

If you haven’t read this series yet, please check it out today. LET THE ADVENTURES BEGIN AND CONTINUE FROM BOOK 1 – 4. I assure you that you will be hooked and want to read the whole series.

I write stories that are clean and never have any unacceptable language or scenes for your children of all ages to read. I don’t think any of that unaccepptable matter or language is needed to create a good quality book. Adults love these books too!

Well, I need to get back to Book 5 because the characters are constantly nagging me to come back. They have much to share with me. It can be exhausting at times to listen to them. With the holidays upon us, I have not gotten much competed except for two chapters. I hope to get back to it in between all the craziness of the holidays. THE ADVENTURES CONTINUE IN BOOK 5 AND BOOK 6!

Please keep reading and reviewing books. Authors appreciate your efforts to help spread word about our books for other readers to discover. Thank you!

First Snowstorm!

We finally received our first snowstorm this week. We have at least 6-8 inches of pristine snow until it gets well traveled on. Sigh! I love seeing how white and sparkling it looks in the bright daylight.

Now that I have been retired for many years I don’t have to go out in the snow and risk my life traveling to work as I did for many years. It feels so good!

Here are some pics I snapped during the storm and the next day. Isn’t it pretty? Haha! Not too pretty to drive in but the next day things are much better to traverse.

The sky was so blue as you can see in these photos above that it enhances the beauty of the snow. Don’t you think?

Wherever you live I hope that you are enjoying the season you are in and staying safe and warm or cool whatever makes you happy. I am staying cozy and warm in my house with plenty of warm afghans that I made. I am thankful that I made them especially this time of the year.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post. Please come back again soon and remember to review books for authors everywhere who appreciate your efforts to help spread word about their work so other readers can choose to purchase them. We thank you for taking the time to do this.

  • This is the first book I’ve read by this author, its a good all-around children’s/young adult fantasy read. Genuinely written, with heart and effort. How family ties alongside, love, magic and bravery win through. Well written and flows with ease, the family love between the siblings and parents leaps from the page.

This book was written for 15+ because some of the material in later books could be unpleasant for younger children to read. There is never any illicit language or matter in any of my books for YA. Watch for book 5 coming in 2026! There will be six books in this series at completion unless the characters insist on sharing more stories with me.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Come back again soon. There is always something brewing at JemsBooks.

Happy Anniversary – 13 years with WordPress!

I was just reminded that this is my 13th Anniversary with WordPress! I had forgotten how long it has been since I first began blogging with WordPress. It has been a memorable time!

Please help me celebrate this memorable time. I will be giving away two books from my 50 books – a children’s book and a novel for 18+. If you would like a chance to win one of these books, please send me an email with FREE BOOK in the Subject Line to jjspina@comcast.net today. I can still remember the first time I posted my first blog here. I was so nervous and didn’t think anyone would respond. Of course, I didn’t get a lot of responses but I was happy to receive the few that I did. After the first post, it became easier for me to write. I found it exhilarating to come up with new things to post about. Then I began to receive more and more responses and followers. I am honored and thrilled to have so many followers now. Please keep coming back to JemsBooks where there is always something brewing!

Thank you for stopping by to read this post. Please email if you are interested in receiving a FREE BOOK from JemsBooks! I may decide to give more away if I receive a lot of requests. I’m feeling extra generous and want to spread the love of reading with my readers! Remember to review books for authors! We will love you for your efforts!
