I love to crochet especially with blanket yarn. It is so easy to use and soft to the touch. I have completed over 30 afghans, multiple pillows, and baby sets (afghan, sweater & hat). I crochet at night while watching TV since I don’t always enjoy what on. I can’t seem to sit still without doing something. Like now, I am watching football but typing away with this post.
Here are my latest creations – afghans, pillows and a hair bow.
Bow for hair
I love crocheting gifts for family and friends. Everyone in my family and my husband’s have afghans and pillows. I am now working on gifting some of my crochet to the next generation of kids.
Crocheting is relaxing and keeps my hands nimble especially with the arthritis. If I am not writing, typing or reading, I am crocheting.
What do you do in your spare time for hobbies?
Well, back to my crochet and then some time with my latest read.

I hate to say this but summer is almost over! I do love the change of seasons, fall being my favorite. The color is beginning already over the past couple of weeks. Once the transformation begins it moves quickly and before we know it we are in a kaleidoscope of color. It is magnificent. If you haven’t visited New England in the fall during this colorful season, then you must do it some fall. It is incredible and memorable.
Here are some early photos of the suggestion of the color to come. I keep snapping shots of the colors as they deepen. This weather we are having now is perfect for this change – warm days and cool nights. This is how the chlorophyll, a green pigment, stops from traveling up the trunk of the trees to the branches and into the leaves leaving them to wear their new wardrobe.
You can even see the changes in the pond in these photos from bright green to pale green, yellow and some red. It is still quite full of foliage since it has not be culled back yet.
We always go away in the fall for a vacation and when we return the colors are gone and also the leaves. It is quite a shocking change. If the leaves don’t fall before the first snowfall a tree could be felled by the weight of the snow on the leaves. This happen several years ago to some of our trees at the beginning of our complex. They did not lose their leaves and were split by the weight of the snow. Two had to be cut down and another trimmed in order to save it.
Fall is the perfect time to cuddle up with a good book and relax and forget your troubles. Check out all my books to the right of this post and click on covers. Happy reading!
Well, I hope wherever you live that you are enjoying the good weather you are having while it lasts. It can be fleeting – Mother Nature sends us some surprises and not all of them are good.

I keep wondering where summer went. We had so much hot weather and then rain that I feel I didn’t have a lot of time to enjoy our deck. I did take more photos of the flowers before they disappear though.
What I did notice is that the leaves are already changing. Once the trees begin their colorful transformation it goes quickly. I have already begun snapping the ones I spotted with some color to share with you. I will share them in another post.
Check out this photo for surprise!
I got a surprise when I looked more closely at the above photos on the left. Enlarge this photo and concentrate on the upper right hand corner. You will see something special. Please let me know what you see. I want to see how many of you have eagle eyes. Please write a comment below and let me know what you spied. I was pleasantly surprised.
Sometimes I think I should have been a photographer since I take more photos than anyone I know. I am the family photographer at each function we have. No one ever remembers to take photos! They thank me after I share all the photos I take with them. Sigh! At this time I may have over 10K on my phone. I think it is time to transfer them to my computer.

I am thrilled to see this latest review of The Misunderstood Angel: Branyrd the Angel Book 1 on Amazon. Thank you, NBK, for taking the time to write this lovely review!
Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2024
I really enjoyed reading this book. I have a love for angels! I loved Branyrd 3rd class personality ! Could be me !! All the characters were so enjoyable and easy to love ! Story was motivating and inspiring ! So many wonderful/ good traits for us all to survive and live for especially now !! Thank You, Janet !
I am grateful for any reviews I receive. Reviews are what keep authors motivated to write.
As you see from my monthly reads and reviews I truly believe in supporting my fellow authors. I hope you will support indie authors everywhere by reviewing their books.
Watch for the newest book in this series coming soon. Branyrd will have another tough mission but this time it is a multi-faceted mission where Branyrd works along, once again, with her Guardian Angel, Benedicto, to help those in need. Branyrd is endearing, sweet and unforgettable. She will capture your heart and have you cheering for her to succeed. She will make you a believer of angels if you aren’t already. Each book is a stand-alone story but it is best to begin with book 1 to get into her character. This way you can see how she matures in each book. This book 4 may be the last of the series unless Branyrd has something more to share. You never know what she will do next. I am just along for the ride and it is a wild ride at times, for I feel HE is looking over my shoulder and helping me along the way.

Football started and it is time again for homemade pizza by my husband, John. We enjoyed the first game of our team, the Patriot’s. Great way to begin their season with a WIN!
John makes delicious pizza and this one, I think, was his best ever! I had to snap some photos, of course, to share here.
They looked so beautiful, I had to snap these before they were baked photos.
My pizza had arugula, Swiss cheese, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, and parmesan sprinkled on top.
John’s had mushrooms, roasted red peppers and mozzarella.
We have plenty of leftovers for lunches or snacks. I think this pizza was the best dough yet.
Do you love pizza? What are your favorite toppings? I love veggies and mushrooms.

Here are some reviews from Amazon:
All Jemsbooks Children’s books carry important life lessons so parents do not have to worry about anything inappropriate for their young children. Each book tells a story in rhyme carrying family themes about young dragons with nothing to frighten children and each story ends happily. I know how difficult it is for children to read something that is sad. I always put in something fun and happy for children to leave them feeling good about the story and themselves.
I feel pure joy writing for children and hope with God’s help and blessing to continue to write many more fun adventures for children to read and enjoy. I do enjoy writing for MG/PT/YA and 18+ too!
My goal in writing for children is to encourage them to read daily to enhance their life through good health and increase their creativity. Please read to your children daily even after they can read by themselves. This is a wonderful time to bond, cuddle, and get closer to your children. They will love and remember fondly the times you spent with them. Please keep reading and I will keep writing! Happy Reading Everyone!
Please consider giving books to all the children on your list for all occasions. There is nothing better than to see a child’s eyes light up when you give him/her a book – even more so when you read the book to them. You are giving them so much more than you could ever imagine, e.g., you spark their imagination, heighten their creativity, lift their spirits, increase their vocabulary, open up a whole new world to them, enhance their health and wellbeing and encourage them to love reading. The gift of a book is worth more than gold to our children, grandchildren. Keep reading and gifting books to children. Let’s bring up a generation of readers and thinkers. Thank you for your support!
Thank you for stopping by to read this post. I hope you will check out these fun dragon books today to get your children reading this summer and all year through. There are many benefits of reading for the whole family that I have written about in several previous posts.
Feel free to come back again any time. You are always welcome.

It has been 23 years since this horrific day! We will never forget those who lost their lives.

The following is an account of how this attack unfolded from NBC.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed when al-Qaida hijackers crashed four jetliners into the twin towers, the Pentagon and a field in southwest Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, 2001.
Five hijackers crash American Airlines Flight 11 into floors 93 through 99 of the North Tower. The 76 passengers and 11 crew members on board and hundreds inside the building die instantly. Hundreds of people are trapped above the 91st floor because the crash severs all three emergency stairwells.
8:50 a.m.
Then President George W. Bush is informed of the plane crash as he sits in a Florida elementary school classroom. He and his advisers assume it is an accident.
8:59 a.m.
The Port Authority orders the evacuation of both towers. A minute later, they evacuate the entire World Trade Center complex.
9:03 a.m.
Five hijackers crash United Airlines Flight 175 into floors 77 through 85 of the South Tower, killing the 51 passengers and nine crew members onboard the aircraft and an unknown number of people inside the building. Many were trapped in elevators or on floors above the impact zone. People are seen jumping to their deaths from the towers.
At this point, the estimated death count is 50 to more than 200.
The NYPD calls for a second Level 4 mobilization.
This was a post I wrote in 2020 that I wanted to share once again.
This day 9/11 will be forever emblazoned on my mind as a horrendous day that I will never forget. So many lives were lost that affected many families and left our nation in devastation. Through it all WE ROSE UP STRONGER THAN EVER! We stand tall and will forever remember those brave first responders who were there and later lost their own lives saving others. Please pray for all those who lost loved ones that fateful day.

Many were not even born and don’t know what this nation went through then but only by seeing this 911 presentation on TV each anniversary. I pray that this generation and others that follow will never have to suffer through something like this.

It has now been 19 years! It still feels like it was yesterday. I remember where I was and the shock we all felt. It will never go away but we are healing and stronger.
This is a post below that I wrote in 2019. What else can I say other than God Bless all who were affected by this tragedy – which is all of us!! WE WILL NEVER FORGET!

It is hard to believe that it has been 18 years since that tragic day in American history! Everyone remembers where they were when the Twin Towers were hit. It is a day that no one will ever forget. It changed us all but only made America stronger and bonded us together.

Are you looking for an unforgettable story with history, romance about a formidable young girl who grows into an even more formidable woman. Travel along with Lubelia Alycea for an unforgettable story.
Blurb:
Lubelia Alycea leaves her native country of Madeira, Portugal to travel to her new home – America.
This is the story of how a strong, resilient young girl grows into a formidable woman. She must survive many tragedies in her lifetime, separation from family, sickness, death, betrayal, and a lost love. Will she find happiness and a new love in her life?
Will she be strong enough to face the storms ahead and still keep her family together? Will the secrets in her life destroy her and all that she holds dear?
This story was written in 2010 but not published until August 2021. It is dedicated and in memory of my grandmother who lived to be 100.5. She was cantankerous and stubborn and always got her way. No one crossed her if they wanted to be in her favor. I was fortunate because I was one of her favorites. So she told me! Ha! We had some fun times together. She always made me laugh and entertained me with stories of her experiences growing up. She was a strong person who survived more than most which only made her stronger. I loved and admired her for her courage and resilience. I miss her still! She has been gone for many years now.
She was also a source of support for me whenever I needed her. She was always there to lend a hand. For all that she did for me, I am eternally grateful. This story is my way of saying ’thank you, Avoa.’
Over the many years I asked my grandmother numerous questions and received many intriguing answers. This story was created out of this information I received from her. It gave me the basis for an historical/fiction/romance that I’m sure my Avoa (grandmother in Portuguese) would have loved.
Do you know much about your grandparents’ lives? If they are still alive, ask them about their past. You will gain a surprising amount of knowledge and history that will be invaluable to you and your offspring. Pass it on to each generation. Don’t let your family’s history die with them. I have shared some of my grandmother’s stories with my kids and grandkids and hope that they will always appreciate what their great grandparents and great great grandparents sacrificed for them. I truly believe that my grandparents’ generation was the greatest one of all.
If you haven’t read this book yet, I hope that you will check it out online soon. That would make my grandmother quite pleased with you. It’s important to always be in her good graces. You don’t want to disappoint her. You wouldn’t like her if she were angry. Ha!
Here are some reviews from Amazon:
My book trailer made through Animoto
Grandparents are special and supply us with not only love, support and comfort but they share a wealth of information about the past that we would not know without them. They lived tough lives during difficult times that we may never see, hopefully, in our lifetimes. I am thankful for all that my grandparents sacrificed for my family and our generations to come. They gave up so much, lived with less just so that we could have more and be able to live more rewarding and fulfilling lives.
As a grandparent myself now, I hope I can give my grandchildren something special to remember me by. Of course, my life has been so much easier than my parents or my grandparents’ lives all due to their sacrifices. I will do what I can to give my five grandchildren all the love and support that I can. No one knows what our world will be like in generations to come. I only pray that my offspring will live full, rich, happy lives and remember me fondly.
Thank you, readers, for stopping by to read this post. I hope you will come back again soon. Thank you for your kind support and for any reviews you post wherever my books are sold. Reviews are the best way to spread word of books to other readers. We authors will love you for any reviews you post. Thank you!
