Enjoy each day to the fullest – Stay Positive and Read!

I don’t like to be maudlin but as I age I notice several things.

  1. Beauty fades
  2. Bodies thicken
  3. Eyesight dims
  4. Hearing lessens
  5. Minds diminish

When I look in the mirror I see someone I don’t recognize, though in my mind I am still young and feeling good but with more aches and pains and creaking joints. I still think young even under this gray veneer. Age is just a number and not definitive of who we are. It is never too late to do what you love to do. For me, it was becoming an author after I retired at age 65. At present I have published 46 books and still going strong! I am presently working on books 47 & 48.

Word Art

Writing is what keeps me young at heart and positive of mind. Reading is another way to stay upbeat. I read and write a variety of genres to keep myself fresh. Watch for my Monthly Reads and Reviews for everything I read each month. Reviewing helps authors get noticed by Amazon. Please help authors by reviewing their books.

My WIP is a positive series showing good against evil and the power of the main character, Branyrd the Angel. I wish we had an Angel like this in all our lives, that is why I created her to give everyone hope.

Watch for this book coming this year. There is always something new coming from Jemsbooks.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Stay well and positive. Come back again for more news about books, reviews and whatever else pops into my already overcrowded head.

Do your kids love magic, mystery, ghosts, and time travel?

I love all these genres and put them into my MG/PT series – Davey & Derek Junior Detectives:Books 1-6. Kids will love this series for ages 10+. This series is enjoyed by both boys and girls. Adults love it too!

Writing this series was so much fun. I had to get into the heads of the MG boys to tell the stories. It was exhilarating and made me feel like a kid again. Boys think differently than girls so I had to draw from some experiences as a kid myself and what boys said about different things in school and outside.

The stories flowed from my imagination once I got into each book and the characters became more animated and claimed their roles. I gave them full rein and went along for the ride. What a thrill!

If you haven’t introduced this entertaining and fun series to your middle-graders and preteens, maybe now is the time to do that to help increase their reading levels and get their heads out of their phones, social media and game boxes.

My goal in writing for MG/PT/YA is to encourage all ages to read daily to enhance their creativity, increase their vocabulary and enable them to live healthier and happier lives. Keep reading and I will keep writing. Thank you! Happy Reading!

PINNACLE BOOK ACHIEVEMENT AWARD WINNER!
READERS’ FAVORITE BOOK AWARDS – HONORABLE MENTION!

Davey and Derek Donato are twins, but not identical, who love to play detective. They are always ready for adventure living in the sleepy little town of Lindon where nothing happens. The twins overhear about a sixth grader who lost her cell phone. The fifth grader twins kick into detective mode to solve their first case with the help of their friends, Mickey Catonni, aka cat. Things don’t seem to add up when a bully gets into the mix.

Davey & Derek Junior Detectives Series is a fun and magical series with spells, wands, a black cat, good witches, time travel, ghost hunting and more. There are also life lessons that include being kind, caring and respectful toward others, listening to parents, being helpful and doing chores, and bullying is never tolerated or accepted. Parents love this series too! When your MG/PT/YA read these books, you will rest easy that they are reading good, clean, and wholesome books. What more could you want in a book for your children? Parents are reading and enjoying them too!

This Davey & Derek Series won (11 book awards) – 5 Pinnacle Book Achievement Awards, 3 Readers’ Favorite Book Awards – an Honorable Mention, a Silver Medal, and a Finalist, a Book Excellence Award Finalist, a Silver Medal in the Authorsdb Cover Contest, Top Shelf Awards – First Place and Finalist in Red City Review Book Awards and many 5-Star Reviews from Readers’ Favorite Book Awards.

Check out all these reviews from Amazon using AllAuthor.com promos.

My goal in writing for MG/PT/YA is to encourage all ages to read daily to enhance their creativity, increase their vocabulary and enable them to live healthier and happier lives. Keep reading and I will keep writing. Thank you! Happy Reading!

MG/PT/YA books are available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

MG/PT is my favorite genre to write. I have another idea for a series for this age group that is waiting in the wings. I look forward to beginning this series in 2025 in between working on my fantasy series, Gateskin Chronicles.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Please come back again soon. There is always something brewing at Jemsbooks.com.

Books for YA – Fantasy series – Gateskin Chronicles!

Instead of candy, please think about gifting books to your Young Adults for all occasions. Books are perfect for birthdays, celebrations or just for yourself.

This series was epic and intense to write with its myriad characters, animals and unusual creatures. Gateskin Chronicles is where something is always happening and King Wizard Gateskin is constantly on guard as he does all he can to protect not only his family, the villagers of Sovorotskina but also all of Noella Province. You will read about magic, wizards, fairies, dragons, good and evil rulers and frightening creatures who will prey on the innocent and unsuspecting.

Promo by AllAuthor.com

This is Book 1 of a fantasy series that will have six books in all. In this book learn about the three children of King Gateskin and his wife, Queen Solinara. The children have had powers since they were quite young..

Serena was three years old when she learned of her power to move objects with her mind. Her brother, Simon, can fly and their sister, Catalina, can become invisible or blend into her surroundings. They live with their parents in Sovorotskina, the Land of Light.

With these powers comes responsibility. The children must try to use their powers for the common good and responsibly to help others. The three children befriend a Sprite named Spindle who accompanies them on their adventure. Along the way they meet up with their aunt and uncle, their mother’s brother and his wife, Wizard Hotenfaran and Fairy Procelina. The group must travel into the evil land of Parotovina, Land of Darkness, to save King Gateskin, who was kidnapped, and also rescue some of the descendants of their friends and fellow Sovorotskinans who were captured and taken by the Evil Ones. These descendants have been waiting a long time to be free to return to the villages of their ancestors.

The children have many trials and adventures along the way. Will they be able to rescue their father and fellow Sovorotskinans without endangering their own lives? Will the evil King Kaposkaran and his Queen Beregina stop Serena and her siblings from being successful or will they turn Serena and her siblings to their dark ways?

The adventures continue in this addition of Gateskin Chronicles. Many new characters and creatures are introduced. Spells abound with magic all around. Many visitors come to Sovorotskina looking for asylum from the evil King Kaposkaran of Parotovina. Will King Gateskin accept them all or even be able to trust them not to be spies for the evil King?

Serena uses her powers to assist when wolves come their way. Other creatures are also about and threaten the safety of the village.

Kaposkaran finds himself in trouble when his village is attacked by creatures. Will he turn to Gateskin for help? If he does, what will Gateskin do?

There is a spy about in Sovorotskina. Will the spy be discovered and somehow stopped from undermining the magic of King Gateskin and his family?

King Gateskin must be vigilant to protect his land and people when another creature threatens to cause harm. He fears for his land when visitors come asking about the lost Medallion which he knows is still buried somewhere in his village of Sovorotskina.

Some of these visitors from a far-off island come in peace while another threatens the safety of Noella Province with her Dark Magic. The King must enlist all the help he can muster to protect not only his village but all of Noella Province from Peril.

King Kaposkaran of Parotovina once again is a nuisance rather than a help to the other rulers of the lands in the province. He is only concerned about his own problems. Will King Kaposkaran be a hindrance or a way for the evil to enter Noella Province once again? Will King Gateskin be able to conjure up enough magic to save them all?

If you haven’t entered the world of Noella Province and all its rulers, you will be surprised and entertained and engrossed in each book which is a stand-alone but should be read from the beginning to understand everything throughout the series.

Grab your copies today. Get lost in the world of Gateskin! There will be more books in this series coming over the next year or so.

Thank you for stopping by to read this post and for your kind support. Please come back again soon.

Fall Decorations are up!

We decorated our house for fall recently. Here are some photos of the inside and outside. By putting these up I am now in the spirit of Halloween and Thanksgiving. Are you? Happy decorating!

Are you feeling festive and ready for the upcoming holidays and all the hullabaloo? As I get older I do not have as much energy or enthusiasm to do all the tasks that I have always done in the past with the families. We have two Christmas celebrations – one for John’s family and one for mine. It is a ton of work and usually a week or less apart. Afterward we both take a much needed rest.

For Thanksgiving we go to my sister’s house. It’s nice not to have to do all the prep work but I try to help a little bit here and there. There are many who are younger who can now pick up the reins and do their part. I am the oldest in my family now and I think I have earned a little rest. Haha!

Well, I hope you are looking forward to all the parties and celebrations coming up. I think I better rest up and prepare myself ahead of time. Phew!

Don’t forget to support Indie Authors by leaving reviews for their books. Keep reading and we will keep writing with your support. Spread word about books you love to family and friends. Thank you!

Thank you for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Feel free to come back any time. You are always welcome.

Blessings & Hugs! Stay Safe, Stay Well and God Bless!

A Touch of fall and some flowers!

In between all the flowers that are still blooming I captured some trees showing their fall colors. We are still in between seasons right now with the warm weather back again during the day and cooler at night. Our flowers don’t seem to be bothered by the cooler weather, they are still blooming.

The weather has been in the 70’s and 80’s without any rain lately. It won’t be long before the temps will cool even more. I won’t mind it though. I like the cooler weather. Perfect time to cuddle up with a good book and one of my afghans.

Before we know it we will be decorating for fall, Halloween and then Christmas. These holidays come on too quickly being so close together. Are you ready for all that? I don’t know if I am yet. I will begin shopping in November. For now I can take a breather before the craziness begins.

Let’s enjoy each day we have and all the beauty around us while it is still here.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post. I hope wherever you live that you are enjoying some good weather.

Blessings & Hugs! Stay Safe, Stay Well and God Bless!

WIP is coming along! Cover reveal coming soon!

My WIP, Book 4 of Branyrd the Angel Series is coming along and soon will be in the editing stages. Branyrd is busier than ever trying to save the world from all the troubles. Don’t we all need a Branyrd in our lives?

If you haven’t read any of this series, please check it out today and begin with book 1 to get into the character of Branyrd, a different kind of angel. She will capture your heart and make you a believer of angels for sure.

Watch for Branyrd 4 coming soon!

This is not a children’s book. Branyrd is a different kind of angel. She has a difficult time being understood because of her habit of getting into all kinds of trouble and for her unacceptable language. Angels are not supposed to swear.

This angel must earn levels to be accepted by the LORD. She is presently at Angel Fourth Class and must ascend to Angel First Class in order to be given a mission to travel to Earth to help a human in trouble.

Once she reaches Angel First Class, she is given a mission and travels to Earth to help a battered woman and her child. Since she is so new to the ways on Earth, Branyrd is accompanied by her Guardian Angel Benedicto, Angel First Class on High, who guides and advises her.

Branyrd doesn’t know what she will do or how she will complete this mission. She must show her strengths and succeed, or she may be demoted. What she finds on Earth is not what she expected. It certainly is nothing like Heaven. There are dangerous people but also those who she will miss dearly when she must leave.

With each book you will see how Branyrd matures and becomes more adapt at being an angel who knows how to take on the toughest missions. Her Guardian Angel, Benedicto, not only assists here but also adds a much-needed dash of humor to lighten even the toughest situations.

Branyrd goes on another mission to Earth, this time she has been enlisted to help a homeless vet and his young son. The Angel goes out of her way to put things right for Lucas and his son, Ezra. She finds it difficult through with the influx of empathic messages and feelings that threaten to overload her. Will she be able to help Lucas get his family back together and find his way to recovery after suffering from PTSD?

Branyrd is a funny, sweet, strong, resilient and capable Angel who is not afraid to take on the toughest tasks, who strives to pave the way for those in need, who creates change and makes a difference in the lives of others that enables them to find their way forward to a good life.

When Branyrd visits a homeless community, she meets with the mayor to work out a plan to solve the problems the homeless have there. Will others stop her from helping those in need? Will Benedicto be there in case she needs his intervention? Will Branyrd be able to break free from the connections she has made when it is time for her to leave Earth and return to Heaven?

Branyrd is on another mission which may be the toughest one so far. She has been sent to a troubled island in the South Pacific that is being attacked by the fellow islands in the archipelago. Her mission is to rescue some children from an orphanage during the attacks.

She is escorted, once again, by her Guardian Angel, Benedicto, who is there as counsel and aide as she completes her mission. What Branyrd finds there is devastation and heartbreak as she tackles the mission, this time one of love for the children and the rest of the islanders who have lost family and homes.

There are many obstacles that stand in her way and danger for the children and others as she must rescue not only them, but also another island that is in danger of sinking.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Come back again soon for more about books, reviews and whatever else pops into my already overcrowded head.

Children’s books about my pets!

All my children’s books are about animals as you can see but some are about pets I have had. Here are the books I wrote about previous pets I have. I wanted to keep their memories alive in books for all to enjoy.

MOM’S CHOICE AWARD – SILVER MEDAL WINNER!

This book is based on my dog, Lucy, who I had for 16 years. She was quite a character and did all the things that are in this book. She loved my spaghetti with homemade sauce, watched TV shows featuring animals, hated baths, “sang” when music was played, and had two cherished possessions, a knotted rag and a ball. I hope you will enjoy reading about Lucy. She is no longer with us and can never be replaced.

I wrote Lucy’s book to remember her fondly, for she was my best friend during a difficult time in my life. She listened to my problems and would lick my face as the tears fell. She never complained and followed me around like a shadow. She always kept me upbeat and smiling when she was sitting on my lap. I miss her to this day.

PINNACLE BOOK ACHIEVEMENT AWARD WINNER!

Colby is one of a litter of four kittens. The kittens get into all kinds of trouble. Being the biggest and strongest, Colby’s mother expects him to watch over the smaller kittens and keep them safe. Read and find out what Colby does to meet his mother’s expectations.

I wrote about Colby who was my daughter’s cat before she went off to college. He was an outdoor cat who had a mind of his own. He only came home when he needed some love and a meal that he couldn’t catch himself. He is missed by all.

PINNACLE BOOK ACHIEVEMENT AWARD WINNER!

Jerry is a crabby crayfish who all day long wishes he could be a fish. One day something happens in the fish tank that makes Jerry change his mind. Read about the valuable lesson Jerry learns.

I wrote about Jerry who really was a crabby crayfish in a fish tank in our home. My grandchildren loved watching Jerry in action in the tank and often tapped on the glass. This upset Jerry and he would tap back at them in warning to stop. He also waved his claws at them to show them his displeasure. He is greatly missed for he was so entertaining.

PINNACLE BOOK ACHIEVEMENT AWARD WINNER!

Clarence Henry is different from other hermit crabs. He came to his new home minus one claw and a leg. He needs to protect himself until he can grow new appendages. Will Clarence Henry be able to meet the challenges in his new water world? Clarence Henry was a real aquatic hermit crab who lives in a saltwater fish tank in our home. We watched him interact with the other creatures in the tank. He was resilient, intelligent, and a joy to have as a pet. We took some photos of him as he grew his claw and leg and changed shells. We shared these photos and facts about hermit crabs in the back of the book. I hope you will enjoy them. This book will make a wonderful resource for classrooms.

I wrote this book about Clarence Henry who was a pet in a fish tank in our home. He was a valuable asset to our fish tank for the exceptional job he did as a cleaner. We have had other crabs but he was the most efficient at his job. We miss him and could really use him now in our tank.

Here are some reviews from happy readers on Amazon.

If your children have a pet I think they will enjoy these books and learn valuable life lessons and good family values.

Please consider giving books to all the children on your list for all occasions. There is nothing better than to see a child’s eyes light up when you give him/her a book – even more so when you read the book to them. You are giving them so much more than you could ever imagine, e.g., you spark their imagination, heighten their creativity, lift their spirits, increase their vocabulary, open up a whole new world to them, enhance their health and wellbeing and encourage them to love reading. The gift of a book is worth more than gold to our children, grandchildren. Keep reading and gifting books to children. Let’s bring up a generation of readers and thinkers. Thank you for your support!

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Feel free to come back again soon for more books, reviews and whatever else pops into my overcrowded head.

Thank you!

I hope you will go right away to Amazon, BN or Goodreads and do your reviews. You will get a good feeling after you do it! I always do each time I write a review. I even at times write to authors to share how much I enjoyed their books. Reviews are what keep authors writing. A little support in the way of a review is like an early Christmas or birthday gift! Happy Reading and Reviewing!

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Come back again soon!
