It has been a wonderful vacation in Aruba – one Happy Island! Our happy time is coming to an end but I think I am ready to return home to my own bed, less food so I can lose some weight (eating too much here), and get back to reality and publishing my latest book.
Here are some more photos of our vacation and the lovely island of Aruba. I wrote two reviews for Divi Phoenix Beach Resort but forgot to mention a few more staff who were helpful in making our stay so pleasant. Here they are:
Julio Rodriguez – Beach Attendant – provided chairs each morning for our palapas – friendly – always gave me a hug and a smile each day.
Julio Morales – Beach Attendant – provided chairs each morning for our palapas – always smiling and friendly.

If you haven’t introduced your children to this series yet, maybe now is the time to do that before the holidays are upon us or grab copies for the kids’ stockings. Books are the best gifts you can give your children.
Reading is important not only to keep your children’s reading levels up all year long but also it can increase their vocabulary, spark their creativity, enhance their health and wellbeing, and encourage them to become lovers of books. Let’s bring up a generation of readers and thinkers who will become successful and confident adults one day.
Please consider giving books to all the children on your list for all occasions. There is nothing better than to see a child’s eyes light up when you give him/her a book – even more so when you read the book to them. You are giving them so much more than you could ever imagine, e.g., you spark their imagination, heighten their creativity, lift their spirits, increase their vocabulary, open up a whole new world to them, enhance their health and wellbeing and encourage them to love reading. The gift of a book is worth more than gold to our children, grandchildren. Keep reading and gifting books to children. Let’s bring up a generation of readers and thinkers. Thank you for your support!

READING GIVES YOU WINGS TO FLY! SOAR WITH JEMSBOOKS ALL YEAR THROUGH! HAPPY READING!
Sad to say, but all good things must come to an end. I knew it wouldn’t last forever – this vacation – but feel sad to see that it is almost over. We have had a wonderful time with our yearly vacation friends, delicious food, warm water to swim and soak in and beautiful sandy beaches to walk.
We will return home with fond memories until we can make more next year and the years after. This is our favorite vacation spot and hope to continue to travel here for several more years, God willing. We usually walk miles a day but with back issues we have not be able to do as much walking this year. We still accrued 8K to 12K a day just swimming and walking back and forth to our rooms.
This year our resort is in deep renovations of many of the rooms. This forced us to have to move twice instead of just once. Our room in the tower was available the first week but the other two rooms we have in another area called the villas was being renovated and wasn’t ready for us until the last week of our stay. We are hoping that things will be completed next year in the tower rooms. The new villa rooms are lovely and almost all the little quirks are being ironed out.
Here are some more photos of different restaurants, foods, waiters, entertainers, and us. I may have to stop eating so I can lose some weight!
All in all it was a wonderful vacation but not over yet. I may share some more photos before we leave here. If you haven’t visited Aruba you must come some time and see for yourself how wonderful it is.
The people are friendly, accommodating and kind. I have to share one kindness that really touched me. I was upset when we had to move again when our room wasn’t ready due to the renovations. One woman, who was at the Concierge desk, noticed how upset I was and called me over the next day. She handed me a lovely pair of earrings as a gift. I was astonished by her generosity. They are lovely. I tried to pay her for them but she refused. I had to gift her something in return so I told her that I would put her in my next book and also I plan to dedicate it to all the lovely people in Aruba who have been so kind and caring to us for many years. They even comped us for the disruption in our vacation. I am truly thankful for their kindnesses. Check out the photo below of John and I and my lovely earring.

Watch for my next book and see the dedication to these lovely Aruban people and Divi Phoenix Resort. We look forward to returning next year. Thank you, Divi Aruba Phoenix Resort, for another memorable vacation!

I have enjoyed writing a couple of series for children to enjoy. This post will showcase one of the series. My first series for children, Drystan the Dragon and Friends, was written in 2020 and the last two of the six books in 2021.
Promo by BMGN
Both series have received multiple awards and have been enjoyed by children and parents alike.
This magical series is for kids PS-Grade 3! There are six books in the series with a different dragon introduced in each book plus Drystan – the star of the series. There are seven dragons in all – four are male and three are female. This series has won seven book awards – two Mom’s Choice Awards Silver Medals, four Pinnacle Book Achievement Awards, and one Top Shelf Book Award!
It is a fun, educational series for children to learn letters, colors, good behavior, friendship, respect, and kindness toward others. Check it out today! Your children will love the rhyming and descriptions of each dragon. There is a poem that introduces a new dragon to each book. All dragons’ names begin with the letter ‘D’ and their colors will be in brilliant shades of blue, green, red, purple, pink, orange and brown. A fun series for kids to enjoy while learning new things at the same time. This series will keep them occupied and happy all year round. Children will love reading these books and they may become their favorite books at bedtime and any time. The illustrations and covers were created by my husband, John.

This is a magical series about Drystan the dragon and his friends. These dragons are colorful, engaging and fun to read about. They teach children the importance of friendship, caring for one another, being kind to others, and it’s okay to be different. All dragons are of different colors and their names begin with the letter ‘D’ – a fun way for young children to learn the letter ‘D’ and colors. In Book 1 Drystan makes a new friend, Durward, who invites him to visit the Land of the Rainbows. While they are there they have an adventure. Find out what the dragons do to save the day.

Writing this series for kids was fun especially since I love dragons probably as much as children do. I love to create stories of magical creatures with rhyming verses and important life lessons and family values. This is a post I published in a past year that I wanted to share today on Veteran’s Day. Sorry I am late sending this out. I am still on vacation and did not have Wi-Fi for a few days. I did not want to forget to share this once again and show my gratitude for all those who sacrificed to provide freedom for us at home.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL VETERANS OUT THERE WHO SERVED THEIR COUNTRY AND GAVE THEIR LIVES OR LIMBS TO KEEP US SAFE! I AM ETERNALLY GRATEFUL FOR YOUR SERVICE! GOD BLESS YOU ALL!
Wikipedia – Thank you Veterans
Thank you, Veterans, for all that you have done for your country.
For keeping us safe on our soil!
For protecting us and preserving our freedom!
We are indebted to you for serving your country!
May God bless you and your families for your sacrifices!
Wikipedia – Veteran’s Day
My dad served his country during WWII and received a Purple Heart.
WIKIPEDIA (Purple Heart)
He never wanted to talk about it back then but as he got older he shared a little of his experience of the day on Guadal Canal in 1942 when he was shot. He expressed regret that he had to shoot when being shot at and for all the men who died during that horrendous war. He was deeply saddened when he spoke of losing his ‘buddies’ as he called them, his fellow Marines. He was proud to be a Marine and was never sorry for proudly serving his country and would have done it again.
My father was small in stature, only 5’6” but he had a huge heart and was brave and talented in many ways. He was gregarious, warm, friendly, funny, and always had a beautiful smile on his handsome face. I am proud of my dad and all that he did for his country. I am thankful that I had such a wonderful father who was loving, caring and kind. Just saying this makes my eyes misty with regret that he is no longer with us. I miss him so much! Love you, Dad!
My Dad in uniform – served in WWII – my photo
Here’s a photo of my handsome father. Unfortunately it is not a clear one but it is the only one I have with him in uniform. I loved him dearly and was proud of him and his service. I miss him and his crazy sense of humor. He died in 2001.
Found this photo since my original post – still showing a handsome guy! So proud of Dad, the Marine!
Thank you for stopping by to read this post. You are welcome to come back again any time. Take care. God bless our veterans!

Middle-graders and preteens love to play video games, watch TV, and use social media. Now is the time to get them reading again with Jemsbooks. There are two series that will spark their interest and have them putting away their games to read these fun, entertaining and intriguing books. Once they begin reading them, they will be hooked.
I wrote this series for boys but girls and adults are enjoying it too.
PINNACLE BOOK ACHIEVEMENT AWARD WINNER! READERS’ FAVORITE BOOK AWARDS – HONORABLE MENTION!
Davey and Derek Donato are twins, but not identical, who love to play detective. They are always ready for adventure living in the sleepy little town of Lindon where nothing happens. The twins overhear about a sixth grader who lost her cell phone. The fifth grader twins kick into detective mode to solve their first case with the help of their friends, Mickey Catonni, aka cat. Things don’t seem to add up when a bully gets into the mix.
All my books for MG/PT carry life lessons that I hope kids will remember and carry with them for a lifetime, e.g., friendship is important, family matters, bullying is never accepted or tolerated, be respectful of elders, be kind to others in need, lend a helping hand to others and show kindness at all times.
My goal in writing for MG/PT/YA is to encourage all ages to read daily to enhance their creativity, increase their vocabulary and enable them to live healthier and happier lives. Keep reading and I will keep writing. Thank you! Happy Reading!
This Davey & Derek Series won (11 book awards) – 5 Pinnacle Book Achievement Awards, 3 Readers’ Favorite Book Awards – an Honorable Mention, a Silver Medal, and a Finalist, a Book Excellence Award Finalist, a Silver Medal in the Authorsdb Cover Contest, Top Shelf Awards – First Place and Finalist in Red City Review Book Awards and many 5-Star Reviews from Readers’ Favorite Book Awards.

When I write children’s books I think like a child and visualize what kids would like to read. Most of my children’s books are in rhyme and all carry important life lessons and good family values. Parents will also love my books for their children for the valuable points that I make throughout the books for children to learn the importance, of family, friendship, kindness to others, accepting differences, and bullying is never accepted or tolerated.

I didn’t sleep a wink until I knew who was going to be the next president of the USA. Once I discovered that, I fell asleep. Today I am exhausted from only getting four hours’ sleep. The election is essentially over but there are still some things that have to be settled with the House which were not completely tallied yet. Once that is done, America can begin to get things back to normal and get stronger.
I am still in Aruba while the election has been going on. It has been crazy. Soon I will get back to reading, relaxing, swimming, walking and eating once again. Time is passing by swiftly. My vacation break is already half over. Yikes!
Here are a few snaps of my present room before I am moved to my original room which has been under renovations. I can’t wait to see the changes they have made to make it even better than it was. I will certainly share some photos of this new room soon.

We have been fortunate to have some lovely warm, sunny weather during our stay. We only had one day of a quick rain shower.
Wishing you all the best from this Happy Little Island! Take care. I will try to post again soon.
