New children’s book coming in March! Cover Reveal now here!

My husband completed the cover for my new children’s book. I am waiting for my LCCN number and need to copyright it then onto publication. I thought you might like to see the cover he created. He created several different illustrations for each story – six stories in all. It is similar to my Make Believe Series books 1-6. This will not be a series though, just one book and the last children’s book, sad to say. I don’t want to ask my husband to do any more. He has been so wonderful to create all twenty-three of them for me for which I am eternally grateful.

I will have twenty-three children’s books after I publish this book. There are many other projects sitting on the back burner that are pushing me to move forward with one of them. I also must complete three more books in the fantasy series, Gateskin Chronicles. Then I will pick up one of the other projects, one for YA and the other for MG/PT. I still love creating middle-grade and preteen stories the most.

In the meantime, please check out all the other children’s books for your young ones to enjoy.

Reading is important not only to keep your children’s reading levels up all year long but also it can increase their vocabulary, spark their creativity, enhance their health and wellbeing, and encourage them to become lovers of books. Let’s bring up a generation of readers and thinkers who will become successful and confident adults one day.

Family and Friends: Tales for Children: These six stories teach children the importance of family and friends, that they matter, bullying should never be tolerated or accepted, help others in need, be the best you can be and never give up.

It’s so important to encourage children to read as I have mentioned numerous times on my blog. I can’t reiterate this enough though in our crazy world today with all the technology that threatens to tear our children away from reading books and sparking their creativity. Thank you, parents and guardians, for the hard work you perform every day bringing up your children. Being a parent is the toughest job of all but the most rewarding. Keep plugging along.

Thank you so much for your continued support of my blog and books. You are always welcome to come back again for more new about books, food, and whatever else pops into my already overcrowded head.

Blessings & Hugs! Stay Safe, Stay Well and God Bless!

My roses are still living! Robins are here?

The roses I received on February 14th are still living nine days after receipt. I can’t believe it! This is the longest I have ever had roses survive! I haven’t done anything different to them besides adding water every other day.

Here are some photos of when I first received them and today how they look.

The photo above is from 2/23/25. They are slowly dying but still looking surprisingly good for nine days. Don’t you think? I believe it is because I have been praying for members of the family and friends who need help. St. Theresa was listening and keeping my flowers blooming.

Today as we were eating dinner with the flowers gracing our tabletop, we saw our first robin on the back deck sitting on one of our feeders. It’s a little early for them to come with over a foot of snow on the ground and no sign of it melting yet. We usually see robins hopping around on the lawn eating up the worms who come up to the surface. I guess they will be visiting our feeders until the lawn is visible again.

It’s nice to see them. They are a harbinger of spring. After this cold and snowy winter we will be ready for spring. How about you? What is your weather like? What season are you in? Do you have robins?

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your kind and continued support. Feel free to come back again soon.

Busy working on a new book in my fantasy series!

I am readying my latest children’s book for publication. I will be sharing the cover soon. I plan to publish it on March 1, 2025. Watch for this new book from Jems Books.

In between publishing this children’s book, I am working on book 4 of my fantasy series, Gateskin Chronicles. I have completed ten chapters so far and going strong. The adventures are continuing!

PROMO BY BMGN

As I have mentioned multiple times here, I am a pantser. Writing in this way is like going on a journey and not knowing where the journey is going or how it will end until it does. It is exhilarating to take a trip in this way to a strange land with unusual characters, dragons, magic and mayhem at every turn.

Once I put my fingers on the keys of my laptop the magic begins. I am lost once again in the mystique of Noella Province with King Gateskin at the helm as he protects his family, animals, people and land.

There will be two more books written in this six-book series next year or sooner. It takes a great deal of work to complete just one book in this series. I am keeping notes about what my muse is creating for fear of forgetting who is who, what is what or where is where. I provide a comprehensive list at the front of each book for readers to refer back to, if needed. Not all of the characters from previous books will appear again or if they do, it will be briefly. I will introduce a few more from time to time but not too many so far from the other books. It can be confusing for me too to keep track of them all.

It is strange that I can pick up where I left off even if I haven’t written this series for months. I depend upon King Gateskin to remind me where I left off and also look over the chapter notes that I type up after I complete each chapter. My mind somehow goes back into the land of Noella Province and the village of Sovorotskina.

This series is recommended by Momschoiceawards.com.

MOM’S CHOICE AWARDS WINNER – GOLD MEDAL!
BOOK EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNER – FINALIST!

This is Book 1 of a fantasy series that will have six books in all. In this book learn about the three children of King Gateskin and his wife, Queen Solinara. The children have had powers since they were quite young..

Serena was three years old when she learned of her power to move objects with her mind. Her brother, Simon, can fly and their sister, Catalina, can become invisible or blend into her surroundings. They live with their parents in Sovorotskina, the Land of Light.

With these powers comes responsibility. The children must try to use their powers for the common good and responsibly to help others. The three children befriend a Sprite named Spindle who accompanies them on their adventure. Along the way they meet up with their aunt and uncle, their mother’s brother and his wife, Wizard Hotenfaran and Fairy Procelina. The group must travel into the evil land of Parotovina, Land of Darkness, to save King Gateskin, who was kidnapped, and also rescue some of the descendants of their friends and fellow Sovorotskinans who were captured and taken by the Evil Ones. These descendants have been waiting a long time to be free to return to the villages of their ancestors.

The children have many trials and adventures along the way. Will they be able to rescue their father and fellow Sovorotskinans without endangering their own lives? Will the evil King Kaposkaran and his Queen Beregina stop Serena and her siblings from being successful or will they turn Serena and her siblings to their dark ways?

If you haven’t begun this series, now is the time to check it out before the next installment comes this summer or early fall. I will do my best to get it ready by then, fingers crossed. Life has a habit of getting in the way of my writing from time to time.

Here are some reviews of this series from Amazon:

Get into the magic and mystery of Gateskin Chronicles and see why others are loving this award-winning series. You will be swept away along with all your troubles. Get reading today and LET THE ADVENTURES BEGIN!

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Come back again soon! Your reviews are welcomed and appreciated and help spread word about my work to other readers and also encourages Amazon to consider promoting my books.

Winter is heavily upon us!

The now keeps on coming! I did say, ‘let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!’ I take that back now. We have had about a foot of snow recently and more is coming. Yesterday was horrendous with snow, sleep, rain and then snow again. We haven’t let our house for two days. It was too dangerous to venture out, especially at our age.

Here are some photos of the snow and the poor birds who are struggling to keep warm while eating us out of house and home. We should put them on our taxes as dependents!

We haven’t shoveled our back deck, and it is looking very deep. John went out in it to fill the bird feeders and said he had a challenging time walking through it. I won’t let him shovel and only hope that it will melt when the weather warms up a little. I don’t want to try shoveling it either with my back issues. We can always pay the contractor who does our walks, driveways, and roads to do it.

Wherever you live, I hope you are safe and warm from the elements. We are fortunate to be inside during all these storms and nowhere to go at the moment. A perfect time to work on my WIP or snuggle up with one of my many afghans and read.

Thank you for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Come back again for more news about books, snow, reviews, new projects and whatever else pops into my overcrowded brain.

Baking some Apple Turnovers!

I was looking for something different to make for my husband for Valentine’s Day. I remembered that I had bought these turnover presses several years ago. I tried them one day a couple of weeks ago and made cherry turnovers. This time I wanted to try making apple turnovers.

Luckily, I had a heart-shaped press that worked great. I measured by using the bottom and pressing it to cut it just right. The first time I made the cherry turnovers I used the red, blue and white ones (large, medium and small).

Here are some photos of my progress and the final results.

Cherry Turnovers

They didn’t last long. My husband was happy with both. I shared two of the heart ones with our neighbor on Valentine’s Day. They are easy to make if you use store-bought dough but I make my own and freeze some of the leftovers each time I make pies. I used the leftover frozen dough to make these. Delicious! I liked the apple ones even more. Next I will try using some preserves like fig, strawberry, blueberry and strawberry rhubarb. I won’t have to cook the fruit that way.

I hope you get to try making turnovers for a nice dessert. Another way to use these frames are make turnovers with meat, ground chicken, beef, pork or other meat. I will try that next time and let you know how they turnout! Use your imagination and create something new and delicious.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Feel free to come back again soon.

Blessings & Hugs! Stay Safe, Stay Well and God Bless!

A new review of How Far is Heaven!

Recently I heard from a reader who could not post a review of How Far is Heaven. He said he tried Amazon, Goodreads and Barnes and Noble without any luck, He finally gave up and sent this wonderful review along to me. Thank you, RS.

RS

If a novel doesn’t capture my interest after the first couple of chapters, continuing to the last would be extremely unlikely!  “How Far is Heaven” is one of those books you want to finish in one sitting!  It is full of mysterious intrigue starting from the Prologue to the last lines, “Soon he, too, was fast asleep and would think in the morning that the angel was just a dream, or was it?”  This novel includes murder, kidnapping, and of course romance.  From cover to cover you’ll find it very interesting and well written.

Parker and Priscilla Wilfork are happily married with two children. Life seemed perfect and peaceful until Parker goes on a business trip and does not return. Priscilla finds her world turned upside down when she searches for answers to how and why Parker disappeared.

One night Priscilla has a dream that Parker is an angel. Does this mean that Parker is now dead? After two years and no sign of Parker except in her dreams, Priscilla makes the decision to tell her children that their father has gone to Heaven.

Priscilla tries to get their lives back together until one day Deanna disappears too. Now Priscilla must go on a quest to find her daughter before it’s too late. She fears her daughter’s disappearance might be connected in some way to her husband’s. Can Priscilla go on with her life if she loses Deanna too?

With the help of a handsome police Sergeant, Blake Furelli, they work together to try to find Deanna and solve the mystery behind Parker’s disappearance. During this trying time, Blake, who suffered a loss of his own, feels drawn to the ethereal beauty of Priscilla.

It is always a wonderful feeling to see a new review from readers especially the ones who enjoy my books. Please review books of hard-working authors who will appreciate your efforts to help spread word about their work to other readers. Authors will love you for taking the time to write a review and read your thoughts. Your support lifts authors up and encourages them to continue to create more stories for you to enjoy. Your efforts propel them forward and help them to be recognized by Amazon who will in turn promote their work. Please keep those valuable reviews coming. Thank you so much for your support.

Here is a book trailer of How Far is Heaven created by Christopher Graham.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Please come back again soon for more book reviews, book trailers, new books and projects from JemsBooks. There is always something brewing at JemsBooks.

Blessings & Hugs! Stay Safe, Stay Well and God Bless!

What have you been cooking lately?

In between working on two books, I have been giving my husband a break from cooking by cooking up a storm and some baking in between. I have to stop all this since I have gained some weight! Sigh!

Here is what I cooked over the past week or so. Most of these are on my pages, Janice’s Kitchen Corner. I promise to share more soon. I will be making a special dessert for my love for Valentine’s Day. What will you be making for Valentine’s Day?

Chicken Lo Mein

John is loving all this food and even requesting more! I told him he is exhausting me with all the food requests! He will get his turn when the weather warms up and he will cook outside on the electric grill.

Well, tonight I am taking a break because we ate out early. Back to work on my two books which are coming along. The children’s book is almost finished and in editing stages. The fantasy book has six chapters completed with about forty chapters or more to go. It will not be ready until spring or early summer.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Please come back again soon. There is always something cooking or brewing at JemsBooks!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Are you ready for Valentine’s Day? Have you bought anything special for that special someone in your life? Does she or he like flowers, chocolates, books, or something else?

Valentine’s Day is a special day to say ‘I Love You’ to someone who means the world to you. I always write a poem for my husband. He always buys me flowers and we have a nice meal at home or out. What do you do on this day?

Some of the flowers I have received in the past. I am writing this before the day, so I have not received anything yet. I will happily share the flowers with you afterward.

We usually buy lobsters and steamers to have for our Valentine’s Day dinner. My favorite! I ask him not to buy me the chocolates though since I only eat dark chocolate and have my favorites which I eat one a day. If he bought me a pound of dark chocolate I might eat too many at one time! My clothes won’t stretch any farther to handle that much candy!

I hope you will have a wonderful Valentine’s Day and that someone out there loves and appreciates you. If they don’t I am sending along some love and sharing my flowers to brighten your day. Take care and show some love to yourself too by buying yourself some flowers, chocolates or books.

Here are my flowers for this year 2025!

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Feel free to come back again anytime. You are always welcome.

Blessings & Hugs! Stay Safe, Stay Well and God Bless!

Parents: Forget the Candy and Buy Books instead for Valentine’s Day!

This is a post I shared in the past.

Now that Valentine’s Day will soon be here BUY BOOKS – look Moms – no cavities with books! Forget the candy, parents, after Valentine’s Day – buy books instead. You will not only keep your children healthier and less rambunctious without the extra sugar, but you will also be giving them a gift that will keep them engaged, happy and entertained for hours at a time.

Jemsbooks are for all ages – from PS-Grade 3 to adults. So, everyone in the family will be happy.

Here are the selections for PS-Grade 3:

Jemsbooks Children’s books are available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Books for Ages 10+:

MG/PT/YA books are available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Books for YA 13+:

Purchase YA books here.

Books for Ages for 18+:

JEMSBOOKS NOVELS FOR 18+ are available on Amazon as paperbacks, Audiobooks, and ebooks (Kindle) and Barnes & Noble as paperbacks.

I hope you had a lovely Valentine’s Day and all your Valentine’s wishes came true. My did! My husband remembered to give me roses and my favorite things to eat – a clam bake. Yum!

Please consider giving books to all the children on your list for all occasions. There is nothing better than to see a child’s eyes light up when you give him/her a book – even more so when you read the book to them. You are giving them so much more than you could ever imagine, e.g., you spark their imagination, heighten their creativity, lift their spirits, increase their vocabulary, open up a whole new world to them, enhance their health and wellbeing and encourage them to love reading. The gift of a book is worth more than gold to our children, grandchildren. Keep reading and gifting books to children. Let’s bring up a generation of readers and thinkers. Thank you for your support!

I feel pure joy writing for children and hope with God’s help and blessing to continue to write many more fun adventures for children to read and enjoy. I do enjoy writing for MG/PT/YA and 18+ too!
