I am excited to share the new additions we have just acquired for our saltwater fish tank. Most of the previous fish we purchased online have left us. Sad to say. Only two fish survived out of the six – Scouter Blenny and the Sun Sifter Starfish. They appear to be doing well.
The new additions are:
Power Blue Tang
Pufferfish (not sure what kind this is)
Bicolor Angel
Here are some photos I snapped as they were getting acclimated to their new water world and after they were set free to explore. The first three photos show the fish in bags as they get acclimated to the temperature of the water. The last three are of them free to explore.
Puffer and Powder Blue TangBicolor TangPuffer
They appear to be doing well so far. I don’t want to jinx them though. Some fish are stronger to survive a change in environments. This is a new store to us – Jay’s Aquatics – Salem, New Hampshire.
Below are photos of the fish that have been in the tank for a little while. The Clown, Scooter Blenny, anemone and Sun Sifting Starfish. The longest resident is the Clown fish.
We hope that these new residents will do well. I will keep you informed. If they do well, we will purchase a couple more from this same store. They were very knowledgeable and helpful when we asked questions and had concerns about which fish would do well with our present ones.

I was thrilled to receive this wonderful review of my latest children’s book, Family and Friends: Tales for Children. Thank you, Carmen Tenorio, Readers’ Favorite book reviewer!
Reviewed by Carmen Tenorio for Readers’ Favorite
Family and Friends: Tales for Children, written by Janice Spina and illustrated by John Spina, features six short, heartwarming stories that mix fun adventures with life lessons—perfect for bedtime, story time, or anytime. We start with Amelia and Cassandra, two sisters who show us the magic of imagination and the joy of playing together. Next comes Mateo and Eiden, where two best friends prove that loyalty and courage can stand up to a bully. In A Boy and a Toad, a kindhearted boy cares for an injured toad until it’s ready to hop back into the wild. Rabbits in the Woods reminds us to look out for family, as a small but brave rabbit warns others of danger. In The Sad Bluebird, even someone unkind gets help when a lonely bird finds a lost chick. And finally, The Mouse and the Tasty but Smelly Cheese gives us a giggle while showing that persistence and a little caution go a long way.
Author Janice Spina’s warm, rhythmic, and simple storytelling makes each page enjoyable to read aloud. The characters are like a group of new friends you meet at the park; each one is different, but all have something special to share. John Spina’s bright, cheerful illustrations bring them to life in a friendly, inviting style with vivid colors that give out a happy, playful energy. The pacing is steady and unhurried, ideal for young readers. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, caregiver, or teacher, these stories are a gentle way to share values like kindness, bravery, friendship, and perseverance while having fun. The book’s encouraging and reassuring tone creates a safe space for children to explore emotions and values. If you’re looking for a book that feels like a hug in story form, Family and Friends: Tales for Children is a wonderful pick for children from preschool to early elementary school, either for shared or independent reading.
I have read this a few times and feel so blessed to have received this fabulous review of my last children’s book which may be my last. This will be cherished and read again and again.
It’s amazing how some eloquent words can lift my spirits significantly. I hope that children will enjoy this collection of short stories. When I receive a review like this, I realize maybe I should continue to create more stories for children. My joy in life is to see children reading my books and enjoying them while learning important life lessons.

In between and after I published my latest book I completed these crochet projects. They are to be gifts for family this holiday season. I am way ahead of myself in completing them. It must be all this nervous energy I have that I can’t keep still for a second. This is my favorite hobby to work outside of all the writing I do. It gives me a break from the books.
Blankets for gifts:
I am ready whenever there is a new baby coming!
I also have all the Stitch amigurumis that I made to give out.
Now I am looking for a new project to create! Idle hands are not happy hands! Haha!

I am thrilled to receive more reviews for my Gateskin Chronicles books! Thank you, readers! Keep them coming! It feels like early Christmas presents each time I see new reviews!!
Here is the latest review from Goodreads:
review by Richard Battle
Janice Spina continues her Gateskin Chronicles series with another imaginative and creative story that entertains the reader every step, leaving them eagerly waiting for the next chapter in the series.
I like how she lists the characters at the beginning of the books, making it easier for new readers to dive into the story regardless of their having read previous volumes.
The dialogue places the reader into the story, escaping life’s constraints and stepping into a fantasy world where dragons serve people.
If you want a fun adventure, this volume and series deliver it!

I am enjoying all the beauty around me with the blooming of the flowers. I had to share some more photos of these glorious flowers that HE has bestowed upon us. Enjoy!
Notice the bee that is inside the flower covered with pollen! Amazin, huh?

Such beauty should be shared. I hope you enjoyed these photos of my flowers. The summer is waning and I can’t get enough of them. I look at them all the time. Here is one that I can see from my office window below. There are over 20 of these bushes all around our yard now. They keep spreading their beauty.
It doesn’t give it justice in the photo because it is loaded with blossoms and swaying in the breeze as it attracts all kinds of insects and humming birds. It is amazing to see! I love every minute of it.

They are feel-good stories that children will want to read again and again. One story will make children laugh out loud while others will teach them important life lessons about kindness to others, friends and family matter, believe in yourself, and you can do anything if you just try.
If you haven’t introduced your children to this short story collection of six stories, maybe it is time to do that now. Grab your copy and let your children begin reading this delightful collection. They will learn valuable life lessons and good family values after reading them.
Since there are six chapters in this book, one of each story, your children will feel more grownup after reading them and can say that they read a chapter book! I enjoy writing short stories for all ages and began writing short stories for children with my series – Make Believe: Bedtime Stories for Children. Please consider giving books to all the children on your list for all occasions. There is nothing better than to see a child’s eyes light up when you give him/her a book – even more so when you read the book to them. You are giving them so much more than you could ever imagine, e.g., you spark their imagination, heighten their creativity, lift their spirits, increase their vocabulary, open up a whole new world to them, enhance their health and wellbeing and encourage them to love reading. The gift of a book is worth more than gold to our children, grandchildren. Keep reading and gifting books to children. Let’s bring up a generation of readers and thinkers. Thank you for your support!
I feel pure joy writing for children and hope with God’s help and blessing to continue to write many more fun adventures for children to read and enjoy. I do enjoy writing for MG/PT/YA and 18+ too!

Remember all the wonderful and valuable life lessons and family values that are imparted throughout the books.
Our children are our most precious gifts from above. We must treasure them every day. There are times when they can be trying, but remember that soon they will be all grown up and out of the nest and not there to snuggle with you or request another story. I miss those times with my children when they were young and also the grandchildren who I read to many times. They are all grown up now and don’t need me to read to them. Sigh! Sad to say! But let me provide these books for your children to enjoy. It would warm my heart if you do. Thank you so much! Keep reading daily!
