Do your children love raccoons!

It may be difficult to love a raccoon. They are rascals, for sure! My book, Ricky the Rambunctious Raccoon is a character that your children will enjoy reading about. This story is told at night under the cover of darkness when raccoons forage for food, the reason it is black on each page.

Your children will laugh out loud at all of Ricky’s hysterical antics. I know I did when I wrote it! The illustrations were created by my talented husband, John, who brought this book to life! I hope your children will delight in its rhyming story and beautiful illustrations and at the same time learn valuable life lessons. This is another JemsBooks for your children’s summer reading pleasure!

MOM’S CHOICE AWARD WINNER – SILVER MEDAL!

Ricky is a rambunctious or very active raccoon who likes to wander around to find something new to eat. One night during his foraging for food Ricky runs into all kinds of trouble. Will Ricky get home safely? Will he learn his lesson to listen to his mother?

We have had our own interactions with rambunctious raccoons on our back deck a couple of times. They really are naughty little creatures who like to get into all kinds of mischief. They were cute but not as cute as Ricky. They left a mess on our deck and destroyed a birdbath by tipping it over. It cracked into a dozen pieces. Sigh! They used it to stand on to get to the bird feeders.

Raccoons are intelligent, wily, and persistent. The females are also good mothers. When we lived in Cleveland, our second floor rental had a porch with canvas for a floor. Every year mama raccoon would have her babies under the canvas (she dug and entrance) and we stayed away! Then we would see her coach them out to try walking around and then onto the tree she used to get to the porch. I wonder how many babies we had during our time there!
