Baking some Apple Turnovers!

I was looking for something different to make for my husband for Valentine’s Day. I remembered that I had bought these turnover presses several years ago. I tried them one day a couple of weeks ago and made cherry turnovers. This time I wanted to try making apple turnovers.

Luckily, I had a heart-shaped press that worked great. I measured by using the bottom and pressing it to cut it just right. The first time I made the cherry turnovers I used the red, blue and white ones (large, medium and small).

Here are some photos of my progress and the final results.

Cherry Turnovers

They didn’t last long. My husband was happy with both. I shared two of the heart ones with our neighbor on Valentine’s Day. They are easy to make if you use store-bought dough but I make my own and freeze some of the leftovers each time I make pies. I used the leftover frozen dough to make these. Delicious! I liked the apple ones even more. Next I will try using some preserves like fig, strawberry, blueberry and strawberry rhubarb. I won’t have to cook the fruit that way.

I hope you get to try making turnovers for a nice dessert. Another way to use these frames are make turnovers with meat, ground chicken, beef, pork or other meat. I will try that next time and let you know how they turnout! Use your imagination and create something new and delicious.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. Feel free to come back again soon.

Hi Janice, I would love an apple turnover but I’m dealing with yet another bout of diverticulitis. Broth, jello and water for a week at least, plus the antibiotics. I’m sleeping a lot because that diet doesn’t give me a whole lot of energy.
