We are in a deep freeze here in New England with temps in the teens and soon below 0. Brrr! I sleep with my warm blanket afghan that I made with Bernat Blanket Yarn. I made one for everyone in the family. With this cold weather I feel the need to make warm and nourishing soups and stews. Do you love making crock pot stews? My soups are made in a large pot as seen below.
In between writing my latest children’s book, I am cooking. My husband is happy that I am taking over the cooking for a while until I get deep into my fantasy series, Gateskin Chronicles Book 4. John knows that once I get into it I will not remember anything else – especially cooking! Sigh!
Recently I made pea soup (yummy), Portuguese Fish with diced tomatoes, and today I made Escarole Soup (Portuguese style with hard-boiled eggs). This week I will be making, chili, chicken pot pie and beef stew. All these recipes can be found on my Recipe page. I will add the Portuguese Fish sometime today or soon.
Does talking about food make you hungry? Me too! I have test tasted the Escarole Soup a few times to ensure that it is delicious! It past the test!

If you would like to check out these recipes, please go to my Recipe Page today for some great recipes to share with your family. I plan to make one of my favorites soon too, Shrimp Scampi. I have received rave reviews of this dish.
What are your favorite dishes? I will keep making many of my recipes from my favorites all winter long. Once the warm weather returns John will be taking over and cooking outside again. I think he likes when I cook and don’t have a WIP. Well, I guess it is time to get back to that WIP since the soup is ready for tonight’s dinner.
I hope you enjoy my recipes and try them out on your family. I hope they love them as much as I enjoy making them. I plan to share more soon, e.g., Stuffed Shells or Manicotti. I love Italian food. John makes delicious meatballs and sauce. I use his sauce for my shells and manicotti.
Thank you for stopping by to read this post. Come back again soon. You are always welcome. Don’t forget to review books for authors everywhere. We will love you for your efforts.

Girl, you have my head spinning right now! I love to take carrot, sweet potatoes, and parsnips, and make a root veggie stock using onions, garlic and several spices. Then I freeze it in quart containers, and when I want to make a soup to eat from for the week, I thaw a container and customize it to my taste du jour. Enjoy!!!
Wow! That’s a good idea! Must be tasty adding meat or whatever to each one. 🥰
We’ve been cold here but no snow – just 40’s. I’ve been making garbage soups – that means every veggie in the refrigerator with a little meat thrown in, but this weekend I am making pea soup (great minds think alike) using my favorite French recipe.
Sounds good! I have been cooking up a storm lately. John’s happy! I made, besides pea soup, escarole soup with chicken, chili, chicken pot pie and tomorrow I am making scallops scampi. Now he wants me to make a custard pie. I did manage to work today on my latest WIP, a children’s book with six short stories. Next up is Gateskin Chronicles Book 4. No rest for the weary! 🤪
You’re getting your exercise cooking!
