Here is a poem I wrote several years ago about the winter season.
We just had a first snow as I write this post. Everything is coated in white and looking ready for Christmas. Of course this snow won’t last until then but hopefully we will have more to coat everything in white once again for Christmas.
As long as I don’t have to drive in it, I am happy to watch it fall. I shared some photos as always of the snow from different windows in my home. I also included my hibiscus and Christmas cactuses that are flowering beautifully and keeping a spring-like feel to my home in spite of the snow outside.

I have two Christmas cactuses that were spawned off of my mother’s original plant and one of my own years ago. Later I took a cutting from the plant on the right (my original plant) and created the plant on the left. By combining two different rooted plants and putting them together they flower profusely because they marry – male and female. I like to think that some of this plant is still related to my mother’s original plant. The left plant is young and more vibrant than the one on the right which is more like me – getting older every day. It’s no longer as spry as it used to be! Haha! The hibiscus is 18 years old this year and is still going strong. I stopped my husband from cutting it down before he brought it into the house. It is quite large but I manage to squeeze it into the kitchen so I can enjoy the flowers all year round,. It has been delighting me with all its blossims!
Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. I’m sure there will be plenty more snow for me to photograph and share here. Please come back again for more books, reviews, and whatever else pops into my already overcrowded head.

A lovely poem, Janice, and your snow pictures are gorgeous.
Thank you so much, Robbie! 🥰
💝
I’d love a little of that white stuff, Janice. But never here in NC now!
This is just the beginning. We will have plenty to send you eventually, I’m sure. January and February are when most of our snow arrives. ❤️ ❄️ ⛄️
Send away! The weather people here will be astounded!
😂
Snow, hey, your pictures look great. In Germany, we went every weekend skiing. Now, we don’t have that white stuff here on the Gold Coast, only in the Mountains, South, they have snow. But I don’t need it anymore. But I love looking at anow pictures, that is great.
Thanks. I never skied and never will. Scary flying down a mountain! 😳
You know, thinking back it’s suddenly scary for me as well, when Watching on TV some skiing. I could never do it again. But we had fun. it was good in that time.
Good for you. You are a brave soul! ❤️
Our snow seems to not have made up its mind to hang around… we are actually headed to the 40’s over the next few days here in the greater Detroit area!
We are expected to get more snow soon. Temps are expected to rise next week though. Crazy! 🤪
