Here it is already the end of another month. Where does the time go? I have been busy as usual reading some wonderful books for the month of November of 2024. Here are the 8 books I read and reviewed for November. I might have read even more if I didn’t have a few WIP. But I always seemed to have a WIP! That fact never stops me! I hope you enjoy reading these reviews.
I love sharing my eclectic reads in this Jemsbooks Segment, Books Read in the Month. I hope you will get a chance to look over these books soon. Thank you for your kind support of my work and that of my fellow authors.
If you are an avid reader, as I am, please review the books you love on Amazon or wherever you purchased them for others to enjoy your reviews. Reviews are one way for readers to know about an exceptional book. We indie authors love to receive reviews and appreciate the efforts of readers to do them. Once again, I thank you for your kind support of me and my books and for supporting my fellow authors too.
When I wrote these reviews I rated them on Amazon, Goodreads and sometimes Barnes & Noble. I did not include the ratings here though. It is best to share my thoughts with you about how I felt about the book without the rating. Ratings can be deceiving at times.
We all feel differently about books. Sometimes we love them, sometimes we like them and still other times we may dislike a book. Some other books are so memorable they take our breaths away! While still others are sweet, sensitive, and enjoyable reads that we soon will forget. But all these books I have reviewed were lovely reads as you can see from my reviews. I hope you enjoy my reviews and that they will help you to decide what will be your next read.
I didn’t remember I had previously read this book in 2014. It had a different cover. Here is my review from 10/6/24.
On Mystic Lake was an emotional and heartfelt read with characters that were flawed and real. The main character, Annie Bourne Colwater, is living in a one-sided marriage. Her selfish and self-absorbed husband doesn’t know how to love her or their daughter. He thinks only of himself.
Annie realizes that she has wasted twenty years with Blake when he announces one day that he is in love with another and wants a divorce. Annie is forced to reevaluate her life and take a break away from him with a visit to her father and her hometown. She hears that her former best friend is in need and she rushes to help him with his young daughter. What she finds is not only a sweet child who is suffering from the loss of her mother but a man in dire need of help when he drowns his sorrow in drink.
I felt my heart breaking for Annie who wants only to be loved and for the little girl, Izzy, who needs her father to love her again. It was tough watching these characters and what they had to go through to find love and peace in their lives.
I didn’t want this story to end and wanted to know more about these memorable characters and what they would do next. I think this should have another book to continue the story. I highly recommend this book from this talented author.
Falling Down is the first book in this series about some mercenaries on a mission who get stranded on a mountain in the snow. They face danger as they struggle to escape hungry wolves and try to save their injured man.
What they face is unknown when they seek shelter in a building as they search the building. This is too short to judge what will happen next unless one picks up the next installments. I’m not sure I will.

Alone Time is a gripping mystery told in two parts, past and present, by four characters, a family with two girls. A plane crash on the way to a vacation in Canada is the beginning of this mystery that keeps the reader guessing what, how and why this happened.
The author did a commendable job of keeping the mystery going until the end when everything came together in a surprising way.
This was an enjoyable read that I would recommend to anyone who loves a good mystery.
Hot Bloodied is a mystery that kept me on edge as the suspects piled up. There is a serial killer on the loose but too illusive for the police detectives, Rick Benz and Reuben Montoya to find. As more bodies are discovered things get out of control as the main character, Samantha Leeds, a psychologist who is a radio personality with her own show on at midnight, becomes embroiled in the midst of the investigation.
Lisa Jackson knows how to keep the mystery going and her readers engrossed in the story. She is a consummate writer of mystery, suspense, and crime. I will be reading more of her enjoyable books soon.
I highly recommend this talented author.
The Girl’s Last Cry is a mystery, thriller that is gripping and keeps the reader engrossed right through to the surprising ending of the story.
This is the second book in the Detective Lexie Bennett mystery series. Once I began this series I was hooked. I love the main protagonist, Lexie Bennett, who is courageous to a fault, dedicated, unrelenting in finding the truth and putting away the perpetrators while going to the aid of the ones who were injured.
The author has written a compelling mystery series with plenty of non-stop action and excitement as Lexie leads the chase to solve another crime and once again puts her own life in the balance in the process.
I highly recommend this detective series.
A Storm of Infinite Beauty is an unforgettable tale of a famous actress, Scarlett Fontaine, her love, losses and secrets. When Peter, a biographer and photojournalist, discovers a photo of Scarlett that piques his interest, he seeks the help of the caretaker of Scarlett’s museum to discuss what he has uncovered. The story is told in two parts, past and present.
Gwen, who is the caretaker of her relative’s museum, works with Peter to uncover if the woman in this photo is really Scarlett. They travel from Nova Scotia to Alaska to uncover the truth which could shatter the memory of Scarlett as a beloved and famous actress. What is discovered is heart-wrenching.
This is a gripping story that kept me enthralled as the secrets are revealed. An unforgettable story that I thoroughly enjoyed. I highly recommend!
The author created a lovely collection of 24 poems that relates the essence of the Christmas spirit in rhyming verses. From the first of December until the 24th of the month, the poems detail the author’s feelings about what each day meant to him as the blessed day came closer.
He shares his thoughts about what Christmas means to him beginning with the decorations that appear everywhere, to the sparkle and shine of it all, the snow that covers the ground, how, in the beginning, the Magi appeared and followed the star to find the child and mother in the stable, the unity that the world feels as the day nears that brings love, peace and joy, and how fortunate we are to be here to experience this wonderful season once again each year. If only we could keep this feeling all year round.
A memorable and heartfelt collection that I will read again and again to experience the joy of the season when it is all over.
This was an exciting adventure during the COVID-19 pandemic. The author created a scenario that was based on criminals and how they adjust and hone their skills to steal from insurance companies during this time where everyone had to stay at home in fear of getting sick.
The main protagonist goes through multiple threats in dangerous circumstances and somehow keeps her cool. Her boyfriend is her only hope to survive as long as she keeps in contact with him.
This was a difficult book to put down or turn off and listen to on another day. An enjoyable book and the first time I listened to an Audiobook. The voice was more monotonous but I got used to it after several minutes.
I was gifted this copy and have written this honest review.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support. I hope you enjoyed my reviews and will check out this wonderful books soon to help support my fellow authors. Please remember to leave a review. Reviews are the lifeblood of all authors and keep them writing for your enjoyment.
