Limerick – Jemsbooks – Lucy the Talented Toy Terrier!

This is an old post that I wrote last year. I hope you will enjoy reading about my dog Lucy, who was a cherished pet for 16 years. I miss her still!

Here is the last limerick for my young children’s books – ages 0-8, grades – PS-Gr 3. Hope you enjoy it! Read about all the other Limericks for Jemsbooks, Louey, Ricky, Lamby, Jerry, Jesse, Broose, Sebastian, Colby, Jeffrey, and Clarence Henry.

All Jemsbooks young children’s books are written in rhyme with life lessons. Each book tells about an animal in a fun and interesting way. Lucy teaches children to have fun, go out to play and care for your pets with kindness and love. Children will learn how to think of someone else besides themselves as they care for their pets. It’s a wonderful learning experience.

LIMERICK

LUCY THE TALENTED TOY TERRIER

There once was a dog named Lucy

Who loved spaghetti and treats so juicy.

She enjoyed watching animals on TV

And was always as friendly as can be

Unless you took away her cherished rag or ball.

You were then no longer a friend at all.

POEM

There once was a dog named Lucy,

Who’s only claim to fame

Was her curled up tail and her cute little name.

She loved spaghetti and doggy treats.

These were her favorite things to eat.

She loved watching TV

And late did she stay up.

She was a special kind of pup.

She made me smile and feel full of glee

But now that she is gone I’ve lost a part of me.

Blurb:

This book is based on my dog, Lucy, who I had for 16 years. She was quite a character and did all the things that are in this book.

She loved my spaghetti with homemade sauce, watched TV shows featuring animals, hated baths, “sang” when music was played, and had two cherished possessions, a knotted rag and a ball.

I hope you will enjoy reading about Lucy. She is no longer with us and can never be replaced.

Available also on BARNES & NOBLE.
