We had a surprise visitor to our back deck today at dinner time. We were enjoying watching the birds avidly eating at the feeders we have. Suddenly John saw a large bird fly by our window causing all the birds to take cover. Unfortunately, I think one did not get away.
This awesome hawk appeared on our deck moments later. Here are a few photos I snapped. In one of them he lands on one of our petunia plants and appears to be eating something. I know he has to eat too but I hate to think of a poor unsuspecting little bird who was his dinner.

He is quite an incredible creature, isn’t he? We have seen some hawks before in our backyard but never this close. We enjoy seeing different animals in our yard such as fox, deer, rabbits, ground hogs, coyotes, turkeys and feral cats.

I have never snapped a photo of a coyote though since I haven’t seen one but heard others say that they have seen them in our yard.
I love living in New Hampshire with all the beauty and nature around us. I love the changing seasons, the awakening of nature in spring, the beauty of the growing flowers and plants in summer, the crispness, scents and glorious colors of leaves in the fall, and the cold stillness of winter with all the footprints in the snow. It is a wonderful place to live. You never tire of one season for long with its ever changing temperatures.
I hope wherever you live that you are happy, healthy and enjoying each day as if it were your last. Each day is a beginning and brings joy and new discoveries if we only look for them. Wishing you peace and love and may God bless you.
Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support of my blog and books. Come back again soon.

I just love when the local critters hang out around the house!
Me too! It was really exciting to see it up so close and personal.
We had a huge hawk come and sit on our grill a few days ago. And our squirrel population has decreased!
Exciting! Wow! We don’t have a lot of squirrels around either because of all the other animals that hunt them. Sad. 😞
Wow!
I love being surrounded by nature. We’ve seen deer, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, coyotes, bald eagles, snakes, and so many other kinds of birds. We also have butter-flies and humming birds that are regular visitors to our flower garden. I love anything that flowers and all the trees and shrubs that live in and around our neighborhood. Though I do enjoy the deer, I get really upset when they come for my hostas. I literally have to shove them in the rump to get them to leave and they always turn and give me a look that says, “We’ll be back” as they saunter back to the woods.
Wow they come that close? Our feet are more afraid to come too close. I agree! I love all the animals too! ❤️
