A winter visitor!

As I have mentioned in previous posts we have many visitors to our yard and neighborhood. The most frequent visitors are the myriad turkeys who come daily. They appear to be multiplying in front of our eyes. I don’t know if that is a good thing.

Recently we had another visitor who surprised the whole neighborhood. Here are a few photos so you can see for yourself. Can you guess what this is? Look below for the answer.

A coyote escaping with a turkey!

I guess the turkeys will be culled by coyotes. No worries about them procreating after all. These photos were taken by a neighbor early in the morning.

Turkeys are huge birds up close and not too personal that fly up into the trees to roost at night. They disappear into the trees once they are there. They need to stay up and away from these coyotes who will return for another meal. We also have fox and Fisher cats who would also love to feast on these birds.

Sometimes I forget that we are living in a country setting with all the animals that are around us. We have seen two coyotes chasing a deer. Hopefully the deer got away but I doubt it because a second coyote joined the first. They disappeared into the woods so I can’t say what happened. I’d like to think that the deer escaped unscathed.

Thank you for stopping by to read this post. Come back again soon. You never know what I will write about next. I don’t even know myself! Haha!
