Sad News about our Boxface Puffer Fish – Raymond Burrfish!

I have sad news to share with readers today. Our Boxface Puffer Fish – Raymond Burrfish had an accident in the tank while feeding and suffered an injury that killed him. We still don’t know what happened. My husband had fed them and went back to see how they were doing and noticed Raymond had an injury to his right eye. It looked like it was gone!

Here is a photo of Raymond in his good health.

When I saw him, I could have cried. He was suffering and lasted for hours before succumbing to his injury. We think it may be that Raymond was trying to grab food and got in the way of our aggressive Trigger fish. The two fish may have collided and Ray got his eye hit by the teeth of Trigger. It looked that way. We could not figure out how else it could have happened.

It was sad to see him suffering since we could not do anything to help him. There is nothing we can do when our fish get sick. It’s not like we can take them to the vet. Sigh!

Ray was a sweet fish and will be missed. Trigger will not miss him since now he doesn’t have to fight Raymond anymore for food.

Thank you for stopping by to read this post and for your continued support.
