Do you love short stories? I do! Sometimes I just want to read something quick and entertaining and don’t have a lot of time to spend to get into a long story. Well, that is why I wrote this short story collection.
I had some short stories set aside and didn’t know whether to publish each one separately or put them into a collection. I decided to put them into a collection after connecting with a high school friend who I hadn’t seen for many years. We connected on Facebook by accident one day. When I saw her I friended her and we began to catch up a little.
It’s was so nice to catch up with someone you have lost contact with like my friend, Anne. She was always a lovely person, funny and entertaining with a wonderful sense of humor, dry wit. What she told me was heartbreaking to hear. She had lost her husband a short time before and then she herself got sick. She had stage 4 breast cancer and had refused treatment. She wanted to join her husband.
It was devastating to learn. She suffered greatly and passed in January of 2017. Anne and I did discuss my book. She was pleased and surprised when I told her that I would write a story dedicated to her and put it into my collection of short stories. The title would be dedicated to her too for she was truly an angel among us. She thanked me profusely making me tear up at the thought that she would not be with us long. I tried to hurry up the publication of this book but did not publish in time before her death. I did send her a copy of the story that I had written for her in time. She loved it and was happy to be remembered in my book. She was loved by many whose lives she touched with her kind heart and sense of humor. She is missed by all!
