Hunting Mariah was the first novel I wrote after writing several children’s books. It was quite a jump into the unknown for me. My muse drove this story through many nightly dreams until I was compelled to write it down.
Today I was reminded of a review for this crime/mystery/suspense/thriller that I had somehow missed. I shared it below.
When I wrote this book I never thought of making it into a series but after some coaxing from readers I wrote the sequel, Mariah’s Revenge, four years later in 2018.
It was difficult getting into the mind of the serial killer again. He wouldn’t leave my dreams until his story was complete. I escaped somewhat unscathed but still shaky. I refuse to go back but recently Mariah is nagging me to pick up her story again. Since I have so many irons in the fire I cannot do that now but have kept her on a back burner to wait.

Here is the review I found by Gigi Sedlmayer
Why this book? (Hunting Mariah)
I normally I don’t read mystery thrillers, but somehow this book got to me. I couldn’t stop reading, it held me captive till the end, even though I thought, right from the beginning, who the awful blood-thirsty killer might be. But still, I was pushed back again, could it really be him? There were so many different turns and twists, that you really couldn’t be sure of anything.
Mariah, the innocent schoolgirl was put into a dangerous twist; she nearly couldn’t get out again, shutting herself up to cope with the unexpected. And then you were transported into the mind of the schoolgirl killer. What a blood-thirsty individual, killing schoolgirls for practice then killing Mariah’s friend, only to get to her. Everyone longed for justice. But will justice come?
Very cleverly done, J.E. Spina. She put family values and support into the foreground.
Thank you, Gigi, for this lovely review. Gigi has written an enjoyable and award-winning series about a little girl and the condor she befriends. A wonderful series for mg/pt/ya and adults alike!
It’s always a joy to read reviews of my books. They lift my spirits and restore my faith in myself that I am doing something worthwhile. Please keep them coming!
Thank you so much for your kind support. Please come back again soon.
