In a previous post I promised to keep you updated about our new anemone. It was touch and go for a day or so but the anemone is alive and beautiful as ever. Hurray!
Here are some photos I took all this week as I kept watch over it. In the first photo the clown is swimming nearby along with the blue damsel. They are both eyeing the anemone. Fingers crossed that one of them will host it.
In the second photo below the anemone is glowing with yellow tips showing that it is healthy and happy here and eating well. Phew! In the next three photos the blue damsels are taking turns getting close to it. Looks like they are trying to host it or trying to snatch the food before the anemone gets it. In the sixth photo is a closeup of the anemone. It is quite beautiful and moves its tentacles with the sway of the water. It is so relaxing to watch.

In the photos below I am cleaning the glass on the inside and outside of the tank as the clown fish chases me back and forth. They hate when I do this since I am disrupting their space and making a lot of noise because I keep slipping the cleaner apart (magnetic) and clapping it back together! Oh! Sorry fish!

I purchased a special light for the tank to accommodate the anemone. The rest of the fish like it too. It changes colors from daylight to moonlight (blue) to off completely. It is programmable. I snapped these photos of the blue light so you can see how the anemone changes colors to fluorescent yellow. Check them out. Fascinating!! It really was more dramatic to see it with my eyes. Sorry I couldn’t capture it any better. But I think you can get an idea how it looks.

I took this photo today (6/15/23) of the anemone looking quite handsome! Don’t you think? He doesn’t seem to mind having his photo taken. Check out his eyes at the base of his tentacles! Wow! Quite impressive with all those eyes! Here’s looking at you, kid! Haha!
The anemone has ensconced himself inside the rocks for protection, I guess. It is difficult for my husband to feed him. He uses a special tool to squeeze the food into and then squirt it out into the water as close as he can to the anemone to make sure it it gets some of it before the fish eat it all. Notice the little white flecks floating around the anemone.
We have had many anemones in the past that did not do well. We are hoping that this new guy will be happy here for a long time. I think by looking at him that he is already! We are happy to have him!
Thank you so much for stopping by to read this post. I will not name this anemone since when I do they do not last very long. It gets more difficult to lose them when they have a name too. Sigh! Come back again for more updates about whatever adventures are taking place in this water world.
Blessings & Hugs! Stay Safe, Stay Well and God Bless!

3 cheers for your remarkable little friend here!

Beautiful. We used to have 2 saltwater tanks. They were also beautiful, but they are a lot of work! Good luck with your anemone. They are so delicate.
Yes, the tanks are a lot of work but my husband likes doing it, or maybe enjoys the fish but not the work. Sigh! Yes, anemones are so delicate. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this one continues to do well. So far so good! Haha! Thanks for stopping by! hugs
My husband did too. When we moved to Arizona we decided it was too much. And not a good climate for them.
That was a good idea. I can’t convince my husband to stop doing this especially since he is getting up in age. He keeps telling me it’s his hobby. It’s quite and expensive hobby though. Sigh.
Hah it sure is. Mine switched over to gardening, mainly ornamental.
🤣
Huzzah for the anemone – may it survive and thrive! How’s the starfish doing?
Yeah! fingers crossed. It looks really healthy and happy! Sigh! hugs x
