We recently purchased two additions for our saltwater fish tank – a chocolate chip starfish and a sea anemone. These two creatures are the only two safe ones to add to the tank since our fish are quite aggressive and do not accept any new fish to their domain.
When John dropped them into the tank this is where they settled down. The anemone stayed right there but the starfish has been all over the tank in a short time cleaning up all the algae. He will grow quickly the way he is eating doing the job he was meant to do.
Here are some more photos as they moved around more.
Trigger is swimming around it to check it out. He isn’t too sure about it yet.
Now we are just waiting for the two maroon clown fish to host it. This means the clowns will swim in and out of the anemone and actually feed it by bringing it food when they swim around and through it. Clown fish are the only fish that can swim through it without getting stung just like in the movie, Finding Nemo. If you have seen this movie you will know what I mean.
When this happens it is amazing to see. We have had anemones in the past with clown fish who hosted them. I watched in awe as the clowns swam in and out and looked happy to be doing that.
The other fish – trigger, two blue damsels above have been circling the anemone but haven’t disturbed it. Thanks goodness. Still waiting for the clowns to check it out.
I will definitely share with you if our clowns host this anemone and try to get them in motion. If would have been nice if we could have bought two anemones but the pet store didn’t have another one available. We will keep looking for another one in case both clowns want to host their own anemone.
Thanks for stopping by to read this post. I hope you enjoyed hearing about my new additions to our fish tank. Stay tuned for more adventures in Spina’s water world.

Great additions! I love clown fish. We had them in our tank as well.
Thank you, Darlene. Yes, they are fun to watch but the maroon clowns are extremely territorial and aggressive even more than the the others.
I cheer when you post about your tanks. They fascinate me.
Thank you, Annette. I love to share for they are so interesting and there is always something to say about them. Hugs x
