Unfortunately at this writing I have to share that our new chocolate chip starfish did not make it. We don’t know what happened. He seemed to be healthy and eating all the algae on the walls of the tank until suddenly he stopped and slid off the glass to the bottom of the tank.
Here are the last few photos I snapped. He was already not well and dying. So sad! I guess our fish are too aggressive and must have picked on him and harassed him too much. We will not be buying any more starfish because of this. The fish are too territorial and protective of their environment to allow the starfish to stay there. At this time the anemone is still hanging in there but it did move into the rocks for protection. It must have noticed what happened to the starfish and worried that the same thing could happen to it. Sigh!

We watched the starfish closely to see if there was any life left in him but alas, he was gone. The other inhabitants of the tank nibbled his legs, Ugh! Next they moved him to the back of the tank and finished him off before we could remove him.
Below is the anemone reaching for food as my husband drops it into the tank. It looked healthy and was being fed daily by my husband with a special feeder. The last photo is showing just the bulb that is the underside of the anemone. Fingers crossed that it is just taking a nap and curled up for safety. But I don’t know! Yikes! No fish have bothered it but I did notice that the blue damsels were swimming around and over it but not touching it.

I’ll let know how how it does. I hope it comes out of its curl soon or it could be dying too. I guess we won’t be buying any more anemone. My husband just purchased a special light for it too! Sigh!
It is such a tough job to keep these fish healthy and strong in this ever-changing water world environment.
Thanks for stopping by to read this post. I hope I will have good news about the anemone soon. Come back again to hear about it.
Blessings & Hugs! Stay Safe, Stay Well and God Bless!

Aw, so sad.
🥲
I’m sorry to hear this. Saltwater tanks are notoriously difficult to maintain for their inhabitants. 😦
We are hanging in there. I would like to close it all down once all these fish are gone but I know that John won’t do it. Sigh! 🥺
So sad!
Yes, it was, Jenny.
