Athena feels as if she is going out of her mind. She can’t function after losing her fiancé, Justin, in a car accident, or did she? She keeps having dreams or rather nightmares of being trapped in a car with Justin’s lifeless body. But when she wakes up in the hospital no one will tell her what happened to Justin. She begins to think that he was a figment of her imagination until she calls his number and he answers. They make a date but then, he doesn’t show up.
There are many secrets that Athena’s parents are keeping from her. Can she deal with all the secrets that threaten her whole being? Her only salvation is her Gramma Grace who knows the truth and has the power of clairvoyance to help her.
Athena finally meets someone who could possibly give her a chance at love again but can Lucas give her what she needs or is he asking too much of her? When her psychiatrist, Dr. Nick Jasper, shows an interest in her too she feels overwhelmed and confused.
Will Athena be able to choose between Dr. Jasper and Lucas? Will she ever forget Justin?
This novel is a romance/mystery/suspense/psychological genre that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The characters are intriguing, some you will love, others you will hate which makes for an interesting mix. I hope you enjoy this novel as much as I enjoyed writing it.
I dedicated this book to my husband John for all that he does to support me – especially cooking when I need to write and to my best friend, Fran, who listens to my ideas for new books and supports me.
As with all my novels and MG/PT/YA stories the characters take over and tell the story to me. I am a pantser – meaning I write by the seat of my pants, so to speak! Once I have a title I sit at my laptop and the story just comes through the characters who jump out at me to get my attention. It can be disconcerting at times and other times thrilling to not know where the story is going! The characters can get a little testy and then I have to rein them in. But the ending was a surprise to me too. It’s as if I am a reader and not the writer of it all. So much fun!
When I wrote this new book I didn’t have the foggiest idea where it would end. One of the main characters took over. She was strong and resilient and kept butting in to take hold of the story line. I let her do it for a little while but then I had to get the main protagonist to lead the way a little too. This strong character was so much fun to work with that I am thinking, only thinking at this point, of giving her a story of her own. If you read this book please give me your thoughts about this idea. Do you think she should have her own story? After you read it you will understand who I am talking about. I don’t want to give too much away. Hope you enjoy it!
