New Review of Davey & Derek Junior Detectives, Book 1!

I recently noticed a new review of Davey & Derek Junior Detectives, Book 1, The Case of the Missing Cell Phone. It is always a pleasure and quite a sweet treat to receive a new review! I was thrilled to get this review. Thank you, DWPeach, for the lovely review.

D. W. Peach4.0 out of 5 starsFun middle-grade readAugust 19, 2019Format: Kindle EditionVerified PurchaseDavey and Derek are twins who decide to become junior detectives. They aren’t only twins but best friends and sweet kids, and their enthusiasm is cute. Their first case involves a missing cell phone, and though they don’t encounter any telltale clues, they help solve the mystery by keeping their eyes open and asking questions.

The point of view changes frequently, including friends, parents, and the two police officers investigating the crime. Particularly toward the end, there are chapters that don’t involve the twins. Though most of the story is about kindness, honesty, and helping others, the content drifts a little into older themes of bullying, police intimidation, and parental abuse (hitting with a belt), and for that reason, I think the book is suited toward middle grades as intended and may be too mature for younger readers.

BLURB:

Davey and Derek Donato are twins, but not identical, who love to play detective. They are always ready for adventure living in the sleepy little town of Lindon where nothing happens. The twins overhear about a sixth grader who lost her cell phone. The fifth grader twins kick into detective mode to solve their first case with the help of their friends, Mickey Catonni, aka cat. Things don’t seem to add up when a bully gets into the mix.

This book came to me when my eldest grandson mentioned one day that a friend of his got into trouble with his parents when he lost his cell phone. This story began to brew when I thought this over. Once I had a title the story was told through the main characters of Davey & Derek, twin detectives.

Thank you so much for stopping by to read this new review. I appreciate all the reviews and feel as it they are early Christmas gifts that I get to open early! Thank you for your kind support! Keep those reviews coming, please!! Bless you all!
