Interview an Author with Author Annette Rochelle Aben!

It is always a sincere pleasure to welcome a fellow author to Interview an Author on Jemsbooks.blog. Today, please help me welcome talented author, Annette Rochelle Aben.

Thank you, Annette, for stopping by today to share a little bit about yourself and your books. I am excited to have you here! The floor is yours!

Annette Rochelle Aben

Please tell us something about yourself.

Well, the basics are, that I am a single senior who shares a house with 2 single senior siblings in the great State of Michigan! Of the 3 of us, I am the wordsmith, and as such writing is how I spend most of my time. I see each moment of my life as an opportunity to be grateful. One of the most wonderful reasons for me to be grateful is the fact that my 86-year-old Dad is still alive and kicking! Want to start a conversation with me? Bring up quantum physics, gratitude, cats, music, or cooking, and pour me a cuppa coffee (keep the pot close at hand).

jjspina: You have many reasons to be grateful, Annette. Having your father with you is a special one indeed!

When did you know that you wanted to be an author?

Once the turn of the century rolled around, I knew that it was time for me to try my hand at creating and self-publishing a book. After that first book came out, I knew I wanted to create more. Blogging gave me fodder for many of my books what with all the poetry I was posting. I jokingly refer to the blogging/publishing connection as my circle of life.

jjspina: With all the writing, blogging and publishing you do, you definitely have a perfect circle of life.

How do you come up with ideas for your stories?

When I am inspired, I can write. What inspires me? Thank you for asking! Watching the squirrels dashing about. Smelling freshly brewed coffee. Hearing a song lyric. Reading a passage in a book. Listening to the neighbor’s children playing outside. The challenges of everyday life are a big source of inspiration.

Jjspina: I don’t think you need inspiration – you are the inspiration behind your creativity, Annette!

What projects are you currently working on?

I have the working title of Vision in Verse for a series of books of specific styles. For instance, Vision in Verse- Abhanga, Vision in Verse – Etheree. There are at least 2 others, perhaps 4 more to be included. I am working on the book of Abhanga first.

Jjspina: I look forward to reading this book and others. I am sure you will be my inspiration to write more.

What hobbies do you have when you are not writing?

I get lost in my boxes of markers, card stock, stickers, and glitter resulting in cards I send out to family and friends all over the world.

Jjspina: That is lovely, Annette. I too like to create my own cards but just the verses. You go one step further with your creativity. Good for you! I bet your cards are beautiful!

What is your target audience for your book?

My latest book: Tell Me a Story in 99 words was written with people who enjoy storytelling in mind. I see the demographic as people aged 15 and up. Although none of the books I have written were designed specifically for children I can’t discount the appeal to a curious young person.

jjspina: I look forward to reading this book. It sounds intriguing to have stories told in 99 words.

Please share your links and where to purchase your books. http://www.amazon.com/author/annetterochelleaben

Is there anything else you would like to share?

I want to thank you, Janice, for offering me this opportunity. Your blog posts always bring a smile to my heart. And the variety of books you write encourages me to try something different.

Jjspina: You are most welcome, Annette. Your support and encouragement have been an inspiration to me. Thank you for coming today to share yourself and your work. It was a sincere pleasure having you here. Free free to come back again when you have a new book to share.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I would head to Traverse City, Michigan to see my poppa! After that, I would love to meet the fine folks I have met in the blogverse. This means heading to at least 3 continents in addition to those I can connect with right here in North America.

jjspina: I would love to meet you if you are ever in my neck of the woods of New Hampshire. I will have plenty of coffee ready for many a cuppa.

Here is Annette’s book that is being featured here today.

Here is my review of Annette’s book, Tell Me A Story in 99 Words:

This is an imaginative, creative and enjoyable collection of very short stories. Annette has created varied stories in a few words that were filled with meaning and emotions.

Each story drew me in and held me captive until the ending that came so soon that it was like a blink of an eye but at the same time memorable. It takes quite a talent to write a short story that is complete and emotional all in just 99 words.

I highly recommend this book as a quick and unforgettable collection of lovely short stories that you will want to read and read again and enjoy even more each time.

I was gifted a copy of this book and chose to share my review.

Thank you, Annette, for sharing this lovely book with me.
